ok i need help with my network ok on my computer in the moring hours lets say 9 to like 3 during the day my computer drops out of the network so i have to unplug the wire from the wall and plug it back in does it again after 10 mins or so. so i need help my computer is on a wired going from my router from my dads room across the house ( my dad wired the house like 5 years ago for networking ) so i replaced the wired going into the wall in my room which was a 50 footer with like a 10 footer (im relpacing it soon) and i replaced the litte wire in my living room jumping my room to the other room for the router and also bought a 15 dollar nic card for my computer and as far as i can tell i think i fixed my problem im going to see if it does it again tommow (hopefully it donest) but in the mean time i need to know if its just my computer or is it like the wire inside the walls going bad ? im ording off of newegg a 100foot wire to replace in my room and if the problem presists tommow im going to use the 100 foot wire and snake it in to the living room from my room to the router and see if it does it i need to know could it be somthing else cuz we have 4 computers in my house and there in the same room with the router and dsl modem and they are still up when i go down . need help
are you using Cat5e cable? the longest you can run it is 100 meters, thats the cut-off point, where you begin to lose data. If it's longer than 100m, you need a switch somewhere in the middle.
we are running cat 5 cable not cat 5eand we do have a switch i think its the one werer its jumping my room to the other room for the router
