Hm.. are AGP cards jsut as good as PCI and PCI-E? Cause if not, I guess I can wait and save up and buy a new mobo/ram/gfx all at once...
Oh, is AGP 2x good for a 3 year old computer? If I find a model of a card I'm going to get from my cousin, is there a site to check if the card is compatible with my mobo before instalation?
agp 4x is fine if he's going for a relatively cheap card, bandwidth is not an issue. as it is performance wise AGP 8x slightly outdoes PCI-e on the whole as the diferences in system buses affect performance mroe than a bandwidth increase where one is not needed.(though after you consider the fact the cards cost about 50% more for their AGP versions than their PCI-e versions you don't care about a fraction of a percent) EDIT: AGP 2.0 correlates with 4/2x while 3.0 correlelates with 8/4x
Wow, so that $50 card is worth it? Hm.. I'm not quite sure how I want to build my computer... see.. I heard that PCI-E were the best and I can get a pretty cheap PCI-E mobo from a friend.. but then.. if AGP is cheaper and just as good I may think of just suping up my current computer.. What's a good way of building a PC, where do I start? Mobo? Graphics Card? RAM?
the newest AGP/PCI-e are expensive, but look around for a 7600 or something... the best way to go would be getting a ASRock motherboard that has AGP and PCI-e slots so you can always upgrade when you have extra money..
if you can get a compatable board form a friend it would be best. PCI-e isn't superior in terms of performance at this point on ll but extreme high end cases, but it sure the hell is cheaper to get stuff. x800GTO was as low as 90$ american. that's phenominal
