Ok, in this forum there is a lot of rating of people's artwork. Like pro, semi-pro, inter, etc, etc.... I mean, come on! It's their artwork. You don't go to museums and see ratings of their artwork. Artwork is a way to express yourself. Not to show off and have people tell you how to conform to the art they like. Discuss. ~Tamagochi~
true, but people are expressing their views on "your" art. It is not to belittle someone its really to tell how or what can be improved.
sigs/tags can hardly be considered art imo. But either way getting rated helps you improve your "art"
obviously, you haven't been to an abstract art museum. or many art museums at all... Well, I knew I'd be at the defending end because the people that respond are the people that are active on this site and rate people's art from noob to pro.
I don't rate stuff, simply because I don't think it's of any use to anybody. All a rating does is give a subjective view of your work. One person might give you a high rating because they like it, the next person might give it a low one because they don't. Who is to say which opinion is right? Who is to catagorise other people personal tastes into right and wrong? Ratings are bullsh*t, and absolutely pointless except for sucking up to people.
You only said one thing. And last I checked, GR wasn't a museum, thus everyone isn't good. === CC is good. CC helps you improve. A rating doesn't. A rating tells you :censored: all. A rating is about "as useful as tits on a boar".
Exactly. Constructive criticism is the way to go. It helps them improve, and you can get your view out without them compleaining.... much. Anyway, opinion is a key thing in our lives. What you think of your art is different to what others think. Sometimes, we need people to judge our work, to stop ourselves from being too proud of a piece. I thought up something, but I forgot it...
1. Modern Art museums are absouletely terrible, if that is considered art then please, give me signatures any day. 2. A rating helps, it shows you where you stand in terms of skill. If you need to improve or not, plus people are always curious as to what they are working at. 3. You can all say, art is about opinion. Sure, it is, but thats only a half truth. If art wasnt based partly on how good it is as art "Regardless of opinion" then Art Museums woudn't exactly be hard to get into. Opinion does matter, sure, but there is a generally accepted standard to which everyone follows and regards as Novice/Inter/Pro etc. whether you like it or not.
