My screen takes up to 75Hz, But i wanted to know what difference it makes? When ever i switch on the 75Hz version on Guild Wars it seems to make no difference as to when its on the 60Hz Setting. I know its a really stupid and something i should know but oh well -Thanks
Things on the screen show up more clear. 75Hz is the point where no eye damage really occurs. Anything below 75Hz for too long can start messing up your vision. That is why everyone switched to the LCD monitors. If you notice no different in the game, change it on the desktop and try to read something on each setting. If you have a good screen you will see what I mean.
Hz when referring to monitors, is the number of times a monitor refreshes the picture per second. As AKW said, anything below 75Hz can be damaging. Although if you have to have it lower enable clear type to reduce the chance of eye damage.
yeah i seriously suggest you use 75Hz or more, i know from from experience less is bad, i spent alot of time around screens with 60Hz and resulted in me needing to wear Glasses, its not funny, its very serious you don't know how much you value visions untils its going. ;(
Ya ... I have an LCD monitor and I see no difference between 60, 70, and 75 Hz ... unless you have Vertical Sync enabled in your games. I really think it matters alot more in CRT monitors. Like Master said ... it has more to do with the miliseconds. I think this is how it goes ... 16ms = 60 FPS 12ms = 80 FPS 8ms = 120 FPS 6ms = 160 FPS If you put your monitor at 75 Hz ... it would give you about 13ms ... which equals 75 FPS ... so if your gaming ... you should keep it up high. I know it makes a little bit of difference for Call of Duty 2 Multiplayer.
dat da truth... I found that one eye is overpowering the other, resulting in headaches. So one side is more magnified than the other on my glasses. I have perfect 20/20 vision, its just that my eyes are fighting to be the dominent one, lol....
Goto Control Panel, then Display, hit the "Settings" tab at top, click advanced another window comes up, goto "Monitor" tab and it should be there. LCD's have this option on default normally, however CRT's can usually only manage 60Hz
Yep, and mostly, how lower your resolution, how more Hz you can get. My monitor is also quite old (CRT) but I still can get 90Hz @ 1024x768. I'm using 85 however.
