I reformatted my PC a while ago for the first time and I reinstalled most drivers for the things on my PC (video, sound etc) but I havn't done anything about my CD drive. If I go into my computer there is no CD Drive image, just the floppy drive.

I did something but I can't remember what to make it go away. I have been trying to find a driver for my model but all I can find is this firmware stuff, no drivers.

If I go to Device Manager, it says:

"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

I don't know how to fix this.

I can burn CDs, that's all I can do at the moment. Can't listen to CDs, get files off CDs or watch DVDs. If I go to WMP and go burn it says "no devices dected". Same for every program like that, like Daemon Tools, DVD Decrypter etc, any program that uses the CD/DVD drive.

By the way, my CD/DVD drive is an SM-332B.

Or try turning off your computer ... unconnecting all the cables from the back of the CD-Drive, then plug them back in ... then turn your computer back on. That might help.

The second suggestion would probably be your best bet, if you can burn CD's, that means the transmitting cable is functioning properly but the receiving part of the cable is not. The drivers are not required to send information, they are required to recieve it. I'm sure by just powering down your computer, unplugging the cd drive from the motherboard AND the cd drive itself, plugging it back in, and turning it on will solve your problem. If not, I can't help.

as others have said... loose cable... I've never needed to install a driver for a CD dribver... they more or less all adhere to the same standads and windows autodetects them and installs proper drivers...
