Gr: A Stand. Money Over Members?

Ok, I'm new here, can somebody tell me what's bad about advertising a gfx competition?

 

It was for another site, and the admin here sent it out.

And everyone is getting worked up.

Like all of you never made a mistake....

 

1. This thread should be locked, because its retarded in many ways. Many forums ban uses like madmav, not because he's stating his opinions, but because his intent is to bring down the forum.

2. Even if shaggy paid for this mailing, It happens, its happened at nearly every site ive ever been to. Not to mention Shaggy offered a $200 dollar prize for the winner of the GR Theme comp. Go here to see http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/index.php...pic=225478&st=0
So, even if it was sold, thats $200 to one of the members at the site and the only prize you had to pay was a Email.

3. Like I said, everything I've seen shaggy do is productive, and trying to get GR back to the top. He didnt put the forum in this position, He bought it here, it went here because Llamaman lost activeness and when a head admin does that, it can be fatal for a site. So if your blaming someone, blame him for not selling it before, not anything against you llama, im just trying to get some pressure of shaggy. If Llama didnt sell to shaggy, this site would be in alot worse condition then it is now

You got a email, That email results in you having the possiblity to win $200, thats not so bad huh? So, the 400 he made is no 400-200=200 which the remaining 200 is probley going to the server fees for the month. Stop bitching, because your not right, Your making a HUGE deal about a email that wasted maybe 1 minute of your time.

The email was not bought, because Gamerenders sent it out. No database entrees of emails was giving to Shout and they didnt send you the email. I wanna see you take action, mainly because chances are your very uneducated in law and would be counter-sued right after you lost. Chances are your under 17, so you cant do ---- anyway. I guess you could ask your dady to sew the big bad gamerenders for sending you a email that you agree to recieving(check your options you can disable email from admins now and at the time of your registration)...Or even better you could have your dad beat up shaggy, or better shaggys dad! Dont make threats, If you cant back them in the first place. No legal action could be taken and if you tryed the judge would laugh at you and kick you out, then possibly the court could file charges.

That mail was weird yesh. I hope it wont happen again. And shaggy says it wont.

 

One spam mail gives you the edge to leave?

Well, don't come back then. As a relatively new member, I think GR is great for reading/place to learn and master graphic experience. I urge you to give your wanting to leave a second thought before coming back.

 

1. What Shaggy Did was wrong and i think he has realised that and learnt his lesson. Its about time every1 stopped flaming him.

2. Hes done nothing but listen to the members since hes arrived so to say the site has gone down hill is just a excuse.

3. You may say the site has gone down hill because alot of people have left but the thing is now alot of the senior more well known members have left for alot of reasons, Other site commitments, Exams, Social Life and other reason and some of them might not have left til Llama went but i dont think it has anything to do with Shaggy Taking charge. I left because of most of the above reasons and its just that time of year, i will probably be back after the exams. The only reason i saw this whole thing is because Gamerenders is still my homepage.

4. Everyone has a right to be angry about this whole thing.

5. ShoutGfx is not a bad site i just dont like anyone on it, and the managment saying that they wanna stay small is a load of rubbish if they spend $400 on advertising.

6. Everyones complaining about ShoutGFX advertising but the amount of times i see IGO named on this forum, even a Mod has it on his name (he is the owner but still).

I think everyone should just forget about this whole thing it happened Shaggy can't change that, you can't change it just go on with your lifes, carry on spending time on Gamerenders doing whatever you want. Someone Mentioned it already, Summer 2005 was the best time on here, why can't summer 2006 be just as good, just think about yeh!

well... it's cosponsored... technically you do get prizes from GR, a prem membership and a bunch of creds... who cares if it bothers you so much delete it.

 

I'm gonna bet my two cents that people who say they're gonna leave'll come back months after, and at that point of time, GR'll be as great as ever, or even better.

Mav is a little right.

Even Shaggy is the temp owner of GR then i am not sure he got permission from the REAL owner to send a Third Party mail.
But it is also wrong to say it is spam. And the reason why is that ShoutGFX have gone in a partner ship with GR.
So if their is standing in the contract that they CAN advertise this way.
Then it is ok and there is no reason to bitch any further.
But if it happens to be that it is not mentioned in the contract that they can do it, then it is a Third Party and illegal due there is no ''Real'' Permission.

If they can get a fully prove and maybe show a bit of the contract to show that they got right to send such a email then it is ok.
But for now when they try to bribe and do other stuff.. well it seems to me then that it was not mentioned.

But if it is real then i think that Shout or Shaggy should show the bit of the contract that mention the part that they can advertie via GR email.
