OC'ing Intel and AMD are about at the same level now... but Cyrix is another story. So, you will have to flash the BIOS and put another one on it. That could render your Mobo useless, it also would make your warrantee void. So, I would just stick with what you got unless you are daring. ;)

cyrix has been out of the loop for quite some time now, they were a lot more competative in say 90-98ish and more or less died after that.

also, the method/quality testing which intel uses with the CPUs is excellent, if their netburst procs didn't overheat so damn much they would OC far better than AMDs chips. AMDs chips are designed to last around 5 years of heavy use while intels are made for 10... of course I doubt that I'd be using the same proc extensively after that amount of time but still...

Cyrix IS still out there though, and you never know. But none the less, I agree with everything you have just stated. Though, I have seen Intel chips with bad sink sets and bad "cooling lube" strips. I have yet to get a faulty one and love my Intels. So, who knows.

My waranty has been void for like a year or two anyways. And when I added the new power supply, RAM, graphics card and sound card ... that probably voided it anyways. Just wanted to oc it a bit ... like to 3.0 or 3.1 ... not a whole lot.

Oh ya ... and I am daring ... lol

Then look for it. Look for a new BIOS to flash onto the board and follow a tut or two on how to do so. Then go for it. ;)

Yeah, and where should you get your new bios? For me, I tried the fujitsu siemens site, but there weren't any update availible and I highly doubt they would enable voltage/frequency and at esupport you have to pay...

*I just feel like i'm ----3d in the ass with this pc...*

your dell heatsink should definally allow you to get 3.1 Ghz easily. My Heatsink from my old dell was huge and kept my proc relativly cool. dunno much about the fan since it isnt directly on the heatsink, but w/e.
