Well, it has come to my attention that signatures are a waste of time. The effort of so many people is wasted on STUPID signatures. Sure, battles are fun, but there is absolutly no future in doing "gfx" as signatures.

Likewise, there is so much ripping in signatures now aday's, its not even funny. They just crop a abstract from one of use hard working non- signature bastards, drop on a sig with a border and text, then everyone gives them massive ratings and call them "godly" etc.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE, If your gonig to make some quality art, lets go atleast over 1000x1000 pixels? EXPRESS YOURSELF. 400x100 isnt a big expression, you know?

Moral of the story: Signatures are a waste of talent. Im gonig to be stupid and selfish and demand that all of the good abstract artists at this forum, pick up they'er 3d program and photoshop, and make some 1600x1200. Better yet, how about we make a contest about it?

Moral of the story 2: So yeah, Im just being stupid. Signatures suck, expand.

PS: Interested in the contest? PM me.

I agree with ya buddy, and I will go explore right this moment, but i advise you to do something really helpful, take off that sig you have currently, it makes it look like you're contradicting yourself...if it is also considered expressing yourself, then ignore me

At least someone undertsands where Im comnig from. Also, I have a sginatyure becuase I need one. But I never actually make signatures. This one comes froma sgintaure pack I made along time ago. I dony mean to say that signatures are bad, Im just saying there are people out there who waste all of there talent on signatures, when they could do so much more.

haha yea, signatures aren't bad, they just suck, jk

now i feel like going to that art section in good-tutorials where I never dared to click on, it just looks so difficult...drawing clouds, waterfall, and shit and leaving gamesrelated stuff further away from me....

    so you reckon that
just coz its in larger font?

    wallpapers should be big
    sigs should be small
    buttons should be tiny

it does not take skill to make it large (talking size not image).
for example my bling chains. if I want it large I edit 2 input fields with bigger dimensions, and the output is LARGE. done
it takes skill to make it GOOD.

make a 1600x1600 to promote your website, to show what is about.
then try cramming your message in a 80x31 image.
which you figure will be hardest?

I have no idead what this is about.uo dont like sigs, the other doesn't like hentai-porn and the other one doesn't like to bath in the morgning  j/k

If you don't like sigs don't make them.Gfx is a very wide term and involves all kinds off things.

This is not an art graphics site.Like g70 said size doesn't make it more expressive.

    Dude,

    Listen up:

There are more way to express feelings or make are then i something big. I find i more difficult to make a nice sig that flows good then to make a big piece of art. We all have our different style and likings... So lets stick to that.

Since I've been working with sigs, I've learned a lot more about graphics. Some day I wish to learn more about creating templates and 3d models and such, and signatures introduced me to that.

Me, a boring web designer, can now make mediocre sigs. Some day, I'll make great sigs. Then I'll expand onto art.

I'm only 15. My skill will get better as I learn more. Sigs introduced me to a world that I stood oblivious to.

I also met a great lot of friends from making sigs. VEXTA, steen, Javad---all good friends, and many more I forgot to name.

You no how many professenal companys are looking for people with talent on art forums? Thats how i got my job. On my other gaming forum, they seen some of the graphics i was capable of, and they tested and and i was givin a job.... Waste of time? Haha nub

and who needs an image 1600x1200? I sure as hell know i dont, i wouldnt be able to do shiz with it, not to mention it would be anywhere from 3-8-mb and would slow page loading times down

personally i find it harder to make a sig than a large piece of artwork. often because a sig has to explain what you are about, and who you are in a small space, art is almost totally impersonal. you can't compare them, its like apples pears. mmmmmmmmm pears

As long as you can see it clearly, it's good in the graphics world...they aren't a waste of time.

I rightfully agree that sigs are in fact not a waste of time. However the style of it is. Everyone here basically does grunge, grunge is so easy. Try new things. I mean it's a click, click, color thing, expand your talent. Try pen, photo manip, pixel art(sprites), just stop doing grunge. That is just following the trail of everyone else who does it and thinks it is 1337. Got news, it's old,it's being a follower, and it deffinatly isn't 1337.

if a plastic surgeon becomes a carmechanic coz he finds more fullfillment in fixing cars then injecting botox
who are we to deny him this pleasure.

and who is to say it is a waste? he may well be a better mechanic then he was a surgeon.

    bottom line : HIS/HER choice... :)

    dont disrespect sigmakers
    dont disrespect c4d/bryce artists

dont disrespect peeps for what they do :)
