All you have to do is drag songs into the iTunes program in the view of "My Archive" (Or something of that nature). Then you will be able to connect your iPod to your computer and iTunes will put the songs on the iPod through it. You will see what I mean.

I belive the "archive" is called libary, all i do since i don't use auto sync is fill my libary with the songs i want then drag it into the ipod itself inside of itunes.
You can right click the ipod to make more playlists inside it and then drag from your libary into these folders.

I know you said this but i was just expanding on it AKW.

Or if you want iTunes to automaticly update your songs on your iPod, go to Edit -> Preferences -> iPod -> Then you should see something that gives you the choice of:
    "Automaticly Update all songs."
"Automaticly Update certain/select playlists." (Then gives you a box to decive which ones.
    "Manually add songs to iPod."

If you want is done automaticly, click the first one. If it hasn't already started adding songs, then in the like 'mainview' with nothing open, Right-Click your iPod (like where the 'Library' tab is, all your playlists) and hit 'Update iPod'.

Everything i just said must be done with your iPod connected.
