We gave you our e-mails assuming that we were only going to get news about GR. Using us as an advertising tool is just dirty. I didn't come to this forum to be spammed.

And to those who said it's just one e-mail, it's about the ethics.

One email wont ruin your life.

The fact that Shaggy has made this post explaining why he did it shows that he cares for the community, and that he wants to know exactly what to do and what not to do before doing them again and again.

I commend Shaggy for his efforts, all he is doing is trying his best to gain this site money and to improve the community here and in shout.

Madmav, you certainly live up to your username. Take a chill pill, if it was in spam, why did you read it anyway? I am sure one more email wont matter, and what the guy said ^^ about it being ethics, i disagree.

It would be unethical to send 500 emails to GR members, but not a trail test one.

All of you calm down. Especially you Madmav.

So...i think this trial-run is not that successful...so we only get emails from GR from now on?

When you start paying upwards of a couple/few hundred a month to maintain a site for others and your main source of income for/from the site is advertising, yeah, I would go the extra step for ONE e-mail for $400 or w/e... hell yeah... and im not a sell out, you should be thanking shout (dont get me wrong, i dont like shout) for helping them keep GR up for yet another month.

The amount of money Shaggy/Llama/BiG_DaVe have/do put into this site merits them the ability to use their mass e-mail capabilities to help keep this site up. If you were paying $300ish a month to keep the site up and an offer like this came up I am sure youd do the same thing, so please dont go on about sell-outs and everything.

Anywho, this has been settled, leaving this document open will only provoke flaming to occur and mods/admins to be angered.

    1. Yeah, they're paying for the server and other stuff, but they make money off this site. Probably a lot too, considering someone bought it. And don't even try to say Shaggy just wanted to help this community. He's in it to make money.

    2. When I signed up for this site, I gave my e-mail understanding that I could only get e-mails about this site. Hell, I even checked the "Only admins can send me e-mail" button. They NEVER said anything about using our e-mail to inform us about other sites competitions. They are breaking their TOS.

Care to point out to me in the TOS where it says "admins cannot mass message e-mails concerning other sites"? No offense to you or anything intended, I just dont want to read through the TOS lol

I personally didn't see anything wrong with the e-mail. It's not like one e-mail'll harm anyone. (Unless of course it contains a virus, which this one did not.) It's from GameRenders, and you open it, look at it, skim it, decide to either keep it or delete it. It's not that hard, takes you about one minute.

When you click the "Only recieve e-mails from the admin" box when you sign up, that means they can only send you e-mails personally, not mass e-mails advertising other sites.

If they want to continue mass e-mailing, they HAVE to make a new box, saying something like "do you want to recieve e-mails about partner sites?"

I guess I was wrong about the TOS thing, but it still isn't allowed to use someones e-mail to advertise when they specifically checked when they signed up that they are only to recieve e-mails from the admins personally.
