    then the pentium d should be your choice imo. only downside is its 533 mhz fsb, but that shouldnt be a problem once/if you overclock it.

    if your mom will give you like a $200 more budget if you wait until july/augest, i would suggest that. there is gonna be a relitivly cheap $215 Core 2 Duo that would be a great buy. Either way, i have suggested this many times, wait for Q3, even if you cant get the new Core 2 Duo's, prices are still going to drop dramaticly.

    erm... not quite... based on his needs a sempron would liekly be better... half the price and it offers a better upgrade route in say a year(toss in a Opteron 165 for instant own) seeing as netburst is being phased out... won't be a single netburst proc left as marketable within a year or two. the PD805 is itself a great bang/proc cheapest dual core there is and a fair OCer... if he does "need" a dual core proc now then it's the way to go, but if he can wait a little... then it isn't just because of it's single threded performance.

    he cant upgrade from a sempron to a opty 165. Its s754 there are currently no 939 semprons? are there as I have yet to see them released.

    Despite netburst the pd805 would be the be choice as it offers upgradeability to the top intel processors atm when price is decreased and he requires an update. He can easily just chuck on a typhoon and overclock it to 3.3ghz per core if he needed too.

    805= like $120 right?

    sempron= $80ish?

    80 * 2 = 160

    s939 semprons should be out VERY soon... thy've already been out to OEMs and with AM2 to be taking the place of 939 I don't see anyreason for them not to.

    and the 805 is 150...

    wait that was 2 weeks ago...

    it's $113 now(open box) $130. If you get the open box, I can't argue against it.

    why why is it so dumb to buy it?

    I bought it the nvidia GFX intergrated in it can play COD2 alone without a Gfx card needed, I put my 7800GT in it and some cooling and im buying an extra HDD for it.. It runs like a dream.. No problems so far.
    I did a Test on the website where it test your system if it can play games i get top notch...Im also adding another gig of ram.
