Ok When i play my Fav RPG TurfBattles my guy and the game client is SUPER FAST and kinda laggy a guy in the game said its my dual core and it happened to him b4 and he took it to a comp guy to fix it. Doe sany one know how to fix this? he said i need the make the game run on only one Core
ctrl+shift+esc then processes, choose the game righ click, set affinity make sure only one box is checked.
Open task manager (ctrl+alt+del or start>Run>taskmgr) Find the process for the game. right click. Select affinity and have only one checked. Its usually only a problem with older games....but there ye go
they aren't dual core period they have a partitioned single core... it's more liek two halves of one core.
Definition of Hyper-Threading from Intel: Code: In a multiprocessor system, those threads execute on different processors. HT Technology allows a single Pentium 4 processor to function as two virtual or logical processors. There's still just one physical Pentium 4 processor in your PC — but the processor can execute two threads simultaneously. So yes, technically there is only one core. Therefore, the performance will be a lot less than having two physical cores such as AMD or the new Intel DUO (>.< grrr Intel sucks) -bLiNd EDIT: By the way, on my AMDx2 I have never had to set the affinity of anything to only one core and I never lag on any game no matter how old or new it is.
where the hell did anyone say it was dual core? the processor only has oen core. the core is split into two halves... and tricks the OS/motherboard into beleiving there are two cores... compare the pentium Ds to the P4s w/ HT, in every case the PDs are better for multithreade performance.
use this hotfix to sync both cores on startup with your computer Click here It only works with AMD X2 CPUs or you can just go to the boot.ini file and add the /userpmtimer line at the end w/ a space seperating it!
everythign I would knwo of has been mentioned... the superspeed to superlag phenominon is typically due to your proc swithing betweenc ores but setting affinity should fix it. if it's slow after that I would have no idea as to why. EDIT: you fixed it... good... if you are using an AMD athlon, you should check for their list of fixes in general too upgrade form single core list... http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=73727
