the PSU on that case is likely sufficient... and the case does include a keyboard and some misc parts... but if he doens't need those(note they would be of average quality)... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811129150 antec is an EXCELLENT PSU maker and I have heard fairly good things about their case construction and noise levels albiet I also heard they had relatively thin alluminum in their cases(still likely better than what you chose...)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustRatingRe...N82E16813123252 try that for a value motherboard... still 30$ more but not bad at all for the $$$ again wait for the s939 semprons to be out... it should be soon AM2 is out like now or it's supposed to be and oems already have s939 semrons so they are being made.
i dont get it. she said you could get a $660ish dell that has better specs then the one your building (For what it is at now... about $450 including shipping.) I hope you're planning on upgrading a few of those parts, but if your mom is leaving you like $450 to make a custom computer, just ---- that and either get that dell (trust me, that pentium d will be less obsolete in a few months compared to that ---- sempron) or just wait til the summer for one of AMD's or Intel's solid processors (possibly even a Core 2 Duo, doubt you'll have that much to spend, but since the Core 2 Duo E' series is relitivly cheap, AMD will be dropping its prices, making a relitivly good/great Athlon 64 or even the Athlon 64 x2 3800+ a choice for you or maybe a pentium d.) there is still much to be seen. wait til Q3 unfolds until you should truely get a new computer.. it will drop currecnt products majorly.
the semprons are compareable in performance to p4s these days... i don't knwo if you have noticed, but l2 cache doesn't do a ----load for the a64s and that's the only diference btween the athlons and the semprons. you also have to consider the fact that Dells are dell quality... namely ---- PSU, ---- motherboard and ---- case... along with an obsoleted processor.
toss in an x800GTO in place of the 7300GS and get an s939 sempron if possible and just OC... OCing maximizes performance/$ a lto and as long as you don't raise the Vcore much(say .05V MAX ) if any it won't do any harm.
a sempron by performance a pentium D by manufacturing... your comparing a single core chip to a dual core chip not exctly the same... what performs better? a stock FX60 or a PXE overclock to 4.0GHz? stock FX60 netburst is on thge whole a doomed concept as it was implemented in the P4s... too much marketting BS too few developmental improvements.
are you looking for a system that will last a while and can be upgradeable down the track? Cause if you are I think it would be worth your while to get a Pentium D 805. Cheap this combo out - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...82E16813131576R http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16819116001 That chip will overclock like no tomorrow and provide you with updradeability for the future. Those 2 are more expensive than what you already have but the ddr2 ram is cheaper.
