The best two AMD motherboards in my opinion are:

    1) Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-Sli (SLI nVIDIA)
    2) Asus A8R-MVP (CrossFire ATI)

Both of those are right around $100.

That video card (provided by link) is awesome. You should get it dude. It's at the great price to afford than the 7800.

Even though the x1800 XT outperforms the 7900GT in many things ... the possibility for SLI with the 7900GT gives it a giant advantage because crossfire doesn't work all that great yet. Plus after rebate that card is only $269. That motherboard is also great that you picked out because it has double the transfer rate as regular SLI motherboards (16x & 16x vs. 8x & 8x). That G-Skill RAM is great for overclocking, since it is DDR500 and as long as it is 184-pin ... it will work with that motherboard.

SLi is overrated and not worth the hassle unbes you go with it stright off...

crossfire technically has fewer issues and yeilds greater performance.

I agree with link, Sli is a waste, Say buying 2 7800GT's for sli when a 7900GT alone can out performe both is showing you SLI isnt worth it thats 600 dollars of 2 cards whena 295 dollar card is better, see what I mean? there is always going to be a better card no matter what.

Crossfire has greater performance? ... and it can be kind of a hassle, as yo have to disable one card to watch movies.

those results are prior to OCing... you can get a single x1900xtx to similar performance levels of the two 7900GTXs in SLi...

and I was refering to the technology ittself... not what is used with it.if you're willing to OC ATi has the lead.

further more 3rd party drivers improve ATi performance a lot. in it's entirety the onyl reason I have a nvidia card is the linux support.

the x1800XT costs less and is a little bit more ocmpetant than the 7900GT
