Fan Tag ? Signature?

    n00b question alert.

    i know what i signature is...

    but why is a tag different? is it a bit smaller? or is it more to do with what's on it?

    There is no difference between a tag and a sig just a different name.

    ahh... i think it's stupid so stupid... tag or sig whatever... i see peoples making sigs who say "stop the noobment, IT'S A TAG"

    and other saying " stop the noobment ,IT'S A SIG" ... it'S a lot of time..

    but tags and sigs are the same it's true ;)

    They're the same thing.

    I've no idea where the term 'tag' came from, I've been going on message boards since 98 and it's always been called a signature.

    It seems to me that the people who use the term tag and say calling it a sig is noobish are trying to make themselves look better than they are.

    i see =) that's why i was confused.

    although im not gonna be a gimp, perhaps 'tag' is more correct, because the 'signature' is the overall thing after the post, not just the graphic...

    maybe?

    The way I look at it is that what it seems to be is that the tags are better quality (pro,inter etc), and sigs are things like grunge.
    Don't know why I think of it like that, just something I got used to.

    or pizzaniture.....tagnature.....or any reference in their sigs about the name of something made in photoshop

    i know that there the same thing but a tag is more to do with grafitti than anything else i think
