it seems today when i was cleaning the dust outta my comp, i noticed my watts were 250. my graphics card states it needs to be 300watts minium. is this safe?
Based on? Well, as it required 300watt, you should get yourself a new one I think if you want to be safe. However I think it'll still work.
it's definately not worth buying a new power supply for. it's only 50 watts off.. now i can see if it as 100, but it's 50.
you meant 20% off as in the diference between 1.08V, 1.35V and 1.69V... not to mention that such crappy/old products typically don't cut it. It might surprise you but with time PSUs loose their ability to generate huice.. anew power supply would be relatively cheap at that level(get a 350W or hiher one of good qualty) I will provide you with a link when I'm at school..

it's relatiely easy. it would rest our CMOS... that isn't a huge issue though unless it has very special configuration or such... typically selecting load default(or not bothering and doing nothing) is sufficient for the average user. for the money, this shouldnt' be too bad http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817185005 I've always heard the scythe makes excellent fans... all the good quality manufacturers of PSUs don't make cheap/crappy ones save for one by tagan/epower and the customer ratings on that are horid.
on second thought.. do you have a link to a 500 watt one? one that can handle a card like a 7900 gt oc

yea thats one of the reasons i dont like my motherboard.. but it has agp and pci slots at the least btw im a bit confused on this requirement for the 7800gtx "A vacant PCI Express slot adjacent the PCI Express x16 slot. This board occupies two slots: The x16 graphics slot and the one next to it" my manual says three 32-bit PCI slots.. im not that familiar with it

a PCI-e slot is diferent than a PCI slot, it won't work, with the exception of one board, no board has both(and even then it's implementaton of AGP is shid) and the reason why the 7800 uses more energy is because it has a higher transistor count and was built with 130nm transistors as opposed to 90nm transistor(bigger transistors use more power) and the reason why they say it needs vacant slot is because the card is HUGE... it takes up the space of two cards physically. also the PSU diablo listed is perfect of a mid end system albiet it's stretched a little in the setup the one guy mentioned...
I'm in need of a good PSU it has to be cheap but reliable its just going to power a mobo/HDD/CD burner thats it
