Dual 6800gt Question

Is it possible to put 2 6800GT working together? and how do i do it? and what do i need

You mean in SLI? ... you need an SLI motherboard with (2) PCI-Express slots on it. Then buy 2 graphics cards or ... you can buy the Dual 6800GT from Gigabyte ... it is (2) 6800 GT's in (1) card.

Ya ... It would be cheaper to go with one 7900gt ... and then you could always add another one if you got extra money.

Once i get the second card, what will i need to set it up on the board

 

both cards need to be the same model number (like 6800gt 1.023 for example) and they must have the same bios versions.

 

a single 7900 GT is compareable to 6800GTs in SLi though possibly a small amount behind... also you meant 6800GSes, the GTs are discontinued if I am not mistaken.

just read the manual, I beleive you pretty muh just toss the cards in

also the nb on that is kind of close to the cards so cooling it will be nearly impossible with two cards in the way.

also at that price range, if it is important to you you cn get the full fledged SLI-DR for 7$ more and it includes a temperature reader w/ the motherboard


and for the record the 7900s ARE better.. heh

 

screw that, just get an ultra-d and pencil mod it for SLI.

 

if he's worried about OCing a ton the SLi chipsets tend to fare better, my Ultra-D only sems stable to 290-5ish HTT on stock voltage, if not the Ultra-D is indeed a better buy assuming you can get by with "only" 4 SATA drives

I find it funny that 7900 GT's are cheaper than both the 7800 GT and 7800 GTX ... yet a 7900 GT is faster than both of them ... lol
