sounds about right for a factory system, go for the 2GB though shouldn't be much more and gives betterbang/$

also, are the BIOSes on those locked? if not go for the X2 3800+insteed

I will find out if the BIOS are locked tomorrow, a friend of mine has one.
Yeah get the 2gig of ram.
Onboard sound card on that mother board is good.
3800 would be good for OC'ing but if he dosen't want to build he might not know how or want to OC.
I want to build but i don't want to OC, due to the risk of killing CPU's GPU's and what not.

risk is more or less non-existent if you don't raise the voltage, infact if you undervolt it lasts longer, my opteron is overclocked AND undervolted. Also consider that it might die 1 year sooner out of a given lifespan of 5-10 years... by then it would obsolete anyway.

if you don't raise the voltage, a stock cooler typically is sufficient. I'm using a stock cooler, though it is an exceptionally high quality one, I'd say worth 40-45$ if you bought an equivilent one on newegg.
