Im looking to upgrade my computer but have never done it before. from the advice if gotten from people of very limited computer knowledge is the best thing to upgrade would be the video card and RAM.

by the way i want to upgrade so games can run at its high graphics with out and lag or atleast no more than i already have.

if you willing to give me some help just tell me what info you need. i can tell you i have something. i have:

    AMD Athlon 65 processor 3200+ 2.0ghz
    512mb pc3200 ddr
    160gb 7200rpm
nvidia geforce 6200 3d pci express

what do you suggest i upgrade at the lest cost with max improvement.

thanks in advance for any help. :D

k, just to start, its Athlon 64*** not 65 :P

you could definally use at least another stick of 512 MB RAM. That would do you loads of good.

And certainly, a new video card. tell us your budget so we can better gauge on what products to post.

a new gfx card and another 512mb stick...
if you are a hardcore gamer for BF2, more RAM is good..
for other games, better gfx card is nice..

however, it would be nicer to get both...

if you cant, i'd say get a 512mb stick of RAM to add for now,and then save up for a new graphics card..

You will need another stick of ram, 512mb will be good, and a New gfx card. Try to get the best GFX card for that you can buy.

lol, mate, $150 for RAM... um yeah, 512 MB is only like $20-$50. and to be safe, i would go with the same model, frequency, everything. post your RAM speed (PC 3200, or w/e.) if you dont know, download cpu-z (google will help) and click the SPD tab. take a screen shot of that and post it.

yeah, woops, forgot about that first post. pc 3200 is fine, probably the max your mobo allows.

you could always go with another GB of RAM, getting you 1.5 GB of RAM. there is some Corsair Value Ram (same as the thing diablo posted) but for 1 GB. since your processor is 939, i think all the 939 boards have 4 memory slots. just something to think of.

or you could just save $40 and save for a video card.

thanks for all your help guys.

ive also heard that if you have 512mb you need to buy 512mb like you cant add 256mb.

so say i buy 1 gig of ram and shove it in my computer it will just work no installation or anything like that.
