This is pretty stupid. I was just watching CNN and there is a thing about 1337 5p34k or "leet speak" and they said that it is the new way for kids to hide what they are chatting about online. ;( Disappoints me, like at my school. I was like 1 or 10 kids that would say pwn, n00bs and all the other stuff. but like now I see people just using it freely and it pisses me off. I mean, I am not that 1337 but seriously. compared to the n00bs that are using it today. *sigh*
I could ask all people at school if they knew what "1337" was. None would know. Over here it's not that big of a deal. I don't think I have withnessed anyone but me and some other friends that don't go to the same school use it freely irl.
Anyone who basically uses "1337" text in everyday speaking is a true faggot. They fail at english so try combining english + numbers.
Our usual school-smalltalk: "Hi, I just played Runescape, my mining is now 89, 10 more to have 99 ^_^" "Lol, you just mine mine mine, my characters hits 12, I just go to "wildu" (I dont know how to write it) and kill you and take your ores." "Haha, noob! You just got full bronze, gaylord. I got full dragons and im member." "Yeah, your mother is paying your membership, haha!" Or something like that... Kids today...
i agree with you, i hate people who are like "hey look at that NooB, let's totally own him" they have no clue what 1337 is, and make fun of it i only like to use 1337 joking around or when i'm too lazy to actually type something out
omfg! i just saw a little more of the news, and it said things like: "POS, Parent over sholder PIR, Parent in Room LMIRL, Lets meet in real life KPC, Keep Parents Clueless ASL, Age/Sex/Location P911, Parent Alert" were 1337 speak. wow. just wow. i havent even heard of 5 outta six of them. and to .01 -- yeah anyone who uses numbers in words in real life is a douche.
Its pretty hard to say something leet in a joke becauZZ everyone thinks that it isnt a joke... Happens to me usually when I try it.
...wow... The news media are all "concerned" about ---- we talk about online, and how we talk about it. DATELINE interpreted '*hugs*' as a sexual action. What the ---- is that?
Wow, amazing how similar that is to my school. Actually a couple of my friends actually say noob in real life when talking about Runescape. Kinda sad. "What level are you?" "Just got to level 20 last night." "NOOB!" On a completely different note, I also find it sad that Runescape censors the word nob.
I'm living in San Francisco and in my life, I haven't noticed it to be such a big deal or anything... Not a lot of people I know use "1337 speak" - Even now when people use it, I don't really care about it, it doesn't bug me or anything.
ha, I saw that thing about the *hugs* thing being sexual. -_- Merged Post: ha, I saw that thing about the *hugs* thing being sexual. -_-
I like seeing 'technical' documents on 'leetspeak, and hackerspeak' because they explain what it is, in the Gayest way
I have never ever heard someone use l33t speak in day-to-day speech. I sometimes joke around using "noob" towards a friend of mine, since he's the only one in my class that knows what that means.
