What is Ben's MSN Bot? Basicly, it's a program that logs in into the MSN network and tries to keep track of users. The information it collects can be used in web applications. The MSN Status indicator is it's main purpose. The MSN Status Indicator? The MSN Status Indicator is a way to show your MSN presence as an on-line image, which can be used on for instance webpages and forums. The indicator currently recognizes the following statusses: Online Idle/Away/Be Right Back/Out To Lunch Busy/On The Phone Offline/Appear Offline Signed in from MSN Web Messenger Signed in on a mobile device Offline Mobile Requirements</span> Adding The Bot To use the bot functions you first need to be monitored by it. Since Microsoft limits the amount of people one can have on a MSN contactlist it was necessary to create more than one bot. You'll need to find a bot which still has some space on it's list. Currently [email protected] was recently launched and has to most free space. Add that bot to your list and type "!findbot" (without the quotes) to check which bot has currently the most free space. If this is not the bot you added, delete the one you added and add the one the bot gave you. If all goes well, typing "!uid" (again without the quotes) should give you your uid, which is your personal identifier. This uid can be used to access the bot's features. The Status Indicator All you need to do is use the url <a href=\'http://www.bencastricum.nl/msn/status.php/<uid>.png\' target=\'_blank\'>http://www.bencastricum.nl/msn/status.php/<uid>.png</a> as an image source. Replace the <uid> part with the uid you get from the bot. To obtain your uid, open a chat session with the bot and type "!uid" (without the quotes ofcourse). Troubleshooting * One bot can only monitor a limited amount of people. If you get 'You are not monitored by this system.' message then the bot you added is probably full. Deleting your current bot(s) from your list and add the one the bot gives you with the !findbot command should fix this. * Also do not add more than one bot to your list. You can only be monitored by one bot. <span style=\'colorrange\'> An example of this is in my signature. Merged Post: Lol, 14 views and no comments
Looks cool but seems to me it's useless. If someone wants to know if you're on MSN I bet they'll just open their list and find you.
It's cool ... but same thing here as well ... It would take longer to find you on the forums than it would to open messenger and look.
the better and more logical thinking is, when you are away from Messenger, you are away from Forum, offline, offline forum... etc... so it makes some since as to how that may work. If you want it to go along with your forum status then you could use it. I might actually try it.
