Here is a good card for AGP that wont drain out your wallet. It's about $100 less than the 7800 GS. Depending on how much RAM and what CPU you have ... you should be able to play it on Medium to High settings with no problem. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814241010
no but you need a moderately powerful one nad by you definition ultra powerful is probably a 5900ultra, BTW 5900ulra is mediocre, outperformed by a normal 6600, raped bya 6600GT. and WFCxT-time, the x800GTO performs identically to the x800XT if the pipelines are unlocked successfully if I am not mistaken...
Ya, but that voids your warrenty and he might not know how to do it. For the same price its less hassel. And really ... the 5900 ultra gets raped by the 6600 GT? I feel sorry for those people who paid like more than $500 for it when it came out ... considering that was like 4 years ago.
shoulda gone for a 7600GS imo though, most people have said it runs better than a 6600GT and it rapes in SLI
the x1600 pro is outperformed by the x800GTO without unlocking the pipelines on the x800... after it's destroyed. now the x1600XT is a diferent story... but look at the pricing diference
I don't know much about my comp but my current card is AGP so I don't know if the 7600GS would even work for me + I got the 6600GT on eBay for pretty cheap
I have an AGP 6800GS and it has served me well it was a good choice at the time costs only a bit more than a 6600GT. Gives a last lease of life to my computer until UNI  But keep in mind that AGP versions of there PCI-E cousins have been slightly downgraded so expect a small performance gap, but its nothing to be scared about ^_^ And never buy an uber budget card such as the 7300 or annything like that because you get horrible framerates when the action heats up or you might not be able to play some of the more modern games. The MX400 is a exception its by far the best budget card the nVidia has released.
the mx400 is crap the best budget card they have is a 6500 don't know what the diference between AGP and PCI-e cards are, they should have the same clock and , if anything the AGP card would pull slightly ahead due to it's system buses architecture being somewhat more efficient(albiet the max bandwidth is lower but that isn't really an issue yet) also, the AGP version of the 6800GS iss moderately more expensivethan the 6600GT... like 80 bucks more expensive or more as it turns out.
PCI-E (pci-express) is a lot faster then AGP, and it is by far better for gaming. its also more expensive
PCI-e has a higher bus bandwidth making it theoretically much faster than AGP 8x. The diference between the two is small when playing a game. PCI-e cards and motherboards now cost less because new AGP cards are not being produced in high enough volume for prices to be lower. don't beleive me, look at benchmarks, and ompare the price of the x800GT(AGP vs. PCI-e) and the 6800GS(AGP vs. PCI-e)
