definately go for a gig of ram. is that 512mb of ram in yoru comp dual channel or single channel? if it's single channel chuck it... in fact, you might want to get 2GB of ram total and have that be the entirety of your purchase... quick question though, is your BIOS locked?

enter bios on startup(press the [del] key most likely) and see if you can raise the FSB... if you can I highly suggest 2*1GB of G. Skill Extreme ram... P4s OC fairly if they have adequate cooling.

I'd say get 2 gigs of ram, and if you have money left, maybe a nice soundset/joystick?

is that spec sheet right? i think it means PC 3200 DDR 400 @ 200 Mhz, not 400 Mhz. but i dunno what gateway is shipping nowadays.

but anyway, i dunno i like the fact that its integrated video. if you want to game a little, i would feel better with like 7600 or something like that.

thats a 7600 at $170, just its not 256-bit interface.

do whatever you want, matters what you want to be doing

it's fully compatable and great and all, but don't bother with overclocking ram if you can't OC through BIOS. That G. Skill Extreme Ram is great, though it's gone up in price by 20 bucks in the alst month wait for it to go on sale for real.
