No they are not, because they were not invented specificly with the intent of burning illegal music. Some people download music legally off of iTunes and burn it, which is legal.

Also, some people burn their own files onto CDs, which is perfectly legal.

Cd burners were made to have another source for back-ups.

floppies wouldnt be able to hold all your personal files...

you are, however, allowed to make one copy of a cd (music or data) for your own backup. that is legal. I make a copy of all of my CD's incase I accidentally scratch it, that way I have a backup..

Because.. I used to be able to just drag the files that I wanted to backup onto my blank cd.. and now I can't.. which sucks ;(

I heard I have to get a program but that's called warez is it not..?

    Such as Nero and etc..

They just got through telling you that burning software is not Warez. So, if you pay for the software it is up to you in the intent you use it. If you use it for warez and illegal music downloads, so be it. That is your choice, but the whole idea of CD burning software and burning and copying CDs is FAR from being illegal, untill you share em.

in Windows XP, you can just drag and drop. in the cd burner's properties, there is an option to enable.

    Windows uses Roxio.

Nero comes with most cd/dvd burners, so it rather should be free, there are other free programs for burning, see my list, pinned above.

i found roxio is slower than nero, but thats on two seperate computers, with two different drives, so do what you want.

they both let you burn, let's say.....

Roxio works well with some chipsets and burners better than Nero, but if it is the one chips and the one burner, it doesn't like computers. I use Nero AND Roxio... the have drive speed settings on both so they burn the same speed. It is just that Roxio can be a picky ass program. It will either like your computer, or it wont.

Seemingly a lot of Dells came with Roxio and it did well on them. HP Windows XP computers usually have a conflict... but I have seen it vice-versa on a couple machines, so who knows... still, I like both. Either way, you might want to just get Nero with SS (Start Smart). ;)

I reccomend Nero, because its nice and fast and simple to use, but I haven't really tried Roxio so.. yeah. Nero came with my drive, so I just left it at that, because if I tried Roxio I'd probably break it.
