You heard it, folks. When you download music and movies you are SUPPORTING TERRORISM!

    The main articles themselves:
    http://news.com.com/Congress+readies+new+d...ml?tag=nefd.top
    http://www.publicknowledge.org/issues/hr2391

    Some things to note:
    - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was appointed by President Bush.
    - The Bush administration created the bill. (from the article: "The draft legislation, created by the Bush administration and backed by Rep. Lamar Smith")

    Some good comments from Slashdot:

Seems pretty clear that pirated games and DVDs are not the main source of funding for terrorism.
Regardless, movie and music companies will no doubt use the bill to go after everyday illegal downloaders.
Here's an insightful criticism of the US voting system:
    http://politics.slashdot.org/comments.pl?s...90&cid=15188886

No sense of proportion in the punishment:
Guess what else is included in this "ANTI-TERRORISM!!!!1" bill? From the http://www.publicknowledge.org/issues/hr2391 page:
Basically, if you record a movie with your VCR or TiVo, it will be ILLEGAL to skip the ads! What the ----?

And how do they enforce this? Well, the company Philips has recently patented technology to prevent ad-skipping. Perhaps Philips will license the patent to other companies and the law will require you to buy a player that prevents ad-skipping. Kind of like regions on DVD players.

Now, go forth and tell everyone you know about this bull----, and pray that the general public takes note and the bill doesn't get passed.

Can't be bothered to read all that. I read some and don't see how it supports terrorism. Just use a few words so I get the jist of it.

10 Years for downloading a movie... hmm, seems to me like i'd be doing a couple of life terms right now. Maybe 10 or 20 :P.

Ignorant people, i.e. most of the government, should never have power in any society. Down with Bush :D

Roflol... everything is associated with terrorism nowadays, sort of makes me think they are abusing the term terrorism.
