I'm reviewing The Getaway Black Monday, ps2 game. Cover: Thanks to ps2storm.com for this. Description: It's going to be a day to remember for Sgt Mitchell. His first shift back on the Met's (Metropolitan Police) Organised Crime Squad begins with a dawn raid on a council estate that turns nasty. The next 48 hours will pit him against the suspicions of his team mates, a new ruthless wave of crime and the most powerful man in London. Meanwhile on the other side of the city, amateur boxer Eddie O'Connor is in severe trouble. The bank job went horribly wrong, his small time crew has been wiped out and his only ally in this whole mess is Sam, a teenage thief more comfortable with nicking laptops than gang violence. Eddie knows he's way out of his depth - now his friends are dead and somebody is going to pay... Taken from the game's manual. My Review: Overall, it's a pretty good game. The graphics are impressive and it really does feel like London. You have all your typical shops, restaurants and banks. You can visit Buckingham Palace, take a stroll through St James's Park in your stolen Merc and cool off with a slow drive through Trafalgar Square (not literally). An almost is exact replica, this game has really come a long way after the release of the original, The Getaway. The controls have been improved as in the original the Third Person was very dodgey and unstable. The driving feels very realistic in real LICENSED cars. So you can drive along Oxford Street in a Smart Car or a TVR Tuscan. You can pull 180 degree turns or 360's in almost any car (as long as your at a reasonable speed). You can also stroll on motorbikes, which are more tricky to drive. Unlike Grand Theft Auto, your cars turn off when you leave and you can't pull 'drive-bys' (this is London, we're not in the ghetto). You start off as Mitchell, a member of the Metropolitan Police Organised Crime Force. You then move on to Eddie, an amateur boxer and small time crook. Finally, you play as Sam. Eddie's only companion, and just a teenager. At the start you get a small cutscene with Mitch shooting a 'kid' in the back with a handgun, the 'kid' has a gun too. You then see the small Police squad driving down through the tunnel whilst argueing. Although you do feel the realism, there are some very unrealistic parts. Almost anyone can have a gun, no matter what sex, race or age. I mean, imagine strolling through Picadilly and someone pulls out an AK-47 and tries to blow your balls off. Very realistic wouldn't you say? Also the game tends to freeze a lot, so remember to save often! Overall, I would rate this a nice 3/5
