Encaustic painting/hot wax painting using heated beeswax, which resins and colored pigments are added was invented by the ancient Greek's and Egyptians. It is greek for "burnt in". It can resist atmospheric conditions(rain, snow/etc) and was used to keep them protected. Everyone stopped using it until recently. To make Encaustic painting you mix beeswax and resins(copal, dammar and linseed oil). Then you add dry pigments. Each artist will have their own style of using this method of painting. Things such as electric hot plates, irons, heat lamps and flame torches are used to manipulate the surface. The reason why this isnt so popular is because some artists say that it can take up to 2 years to perfect this method. This method can and will evoke sensations and emotions of transformation, religious ritual, history and the passage of time in the hands of an accomplished artist. This process might take long to master but it is worth it. Encaustic painting is a very unique way of art!

    10 creds plz! :D
