home works fine for general needs, pro is just a little more secure and has more capability in networking, etc. for small business things.

i personally have both and they both suit the needs i have... media center would be best if your a big person in the whole movies/audio/graphics scenario...

well here is how I see it

home works for general use very well
pro works very well if you have tremendous networking or business needs... or if you have a big ego...

IMO pro isn't worth the extra cash unless you are amazingly rich.

only difference is, pro comes with more networking capabilities and there is a corporate edition of pro which requires no serial activation.

almost all OS's have a corporate edition. I have a Win 2000 cd that does not ask you for a serial, period...

    It does not really matter...

when you load on Service Package 2, no matter what version you have, it then calls itself just "Windows XP"..

he might think it is better cause it has the word 'pro' in it :P

lol..but really like they said pro is for more networking capabilites and being a little more secure. but if you are using your computer for personal use, home should suit you just fine.

pro is no more secure than home when sp2 is installed, both are essentially identical at that point.

Windows XP Pro MCE (Or Media Center Edition) is just as secure as Pro since it is base Pro... xD I have it too. =D

I would have to say that Windows XP Pro SP2 is your best bet no matter what you are doing. It is a lot more secure and you will get what you are looking for.

The most secure is Server 2003 if that is what you are looking for (to anyone on this server). If you are looking for a cheaper one, then Server 2000 is hard to hack as well. It is a close behind the 2003. Then I think I would have to say XP Pro (MCE). ;)

GO COMMON! GO AKW! GO MCE With Windows XP!

LMAO... I don't think he has to worry about that at home. I would hope not anyways. Besides, when my mom wanted to get on and make security ---- I just went and ended explorer and used alt+tab and alt+ctrl+del and disconnected the power button from the motherboard and told her it was bad to unplug it from the wall, that it was bad for it. XD She left me alone after about a month of that (Back in the day).
