Hey, I just beat the game(actually on the 12th but decided to post this here...it was simply amazing I must say. Now I've beaten Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts II. My final rating for this game is a:

    9.7/10

This game is now my favorite game of all time which pushed Kingdom Hearts to #2. This game had it's flaws as does all of the games. Now, I started the game on Beginner Mode, so I could learn all the controls and not be messed up and I totally regret it. This game was way to easy on Beginner. I am going back and playing on Proud Mode, hopefully that will be much harder, and i'll get the Secret Ending too.

    Now to the review:

    Story:

The story was great. I loved the whole thing with the Organization XIII. They made the game so much better, it was a huge touch. However, there weren't really much with Maleficent and the Heartles. Well the Heartless were a huge part of this game, for the Nobodies to get their hearts but I think there should have been more w/ Maleficent and Pete and what happened to them. Then with Ansem the Wise, and Xehanort and him being the Heartless of the original Kingdom Hearts O_O Like WOW! Lol.

    Characters:

The characters were great. Sora was so much cooler in this one, he didn't sound like a..well you know in this one. Him older and his voice deeper was great. Mickey, Donald and Goofy were pretty much the same, but I love them anyways lol. Riku, dang I thought he was awesome in the other game, he was frickin awesome in this game. His hair rocks lmao. I love the Organization Members too, awesome bosses to fight and they were all pretty cool. Sa'ix, Xemnas, and Axel were my favorites.

    Sound:

Sound was really good again in this game. Not really much to say about sound except that it was good overall. In some worlds it was annoying but it didn't really bother me overall. Oh, and the song by Utada Hikaru, "Sanctuary" I love it lol.

    Drives:

When I was looking at news for this game I was looking at the Drives and I wasn't really too fond of them. I thought they would make the game to easy, which it did make the game easier but I liked how it gave you a time limit and can give you abilities for Sora. I LOVE the Drives now though. Awesome addition to Kingdom Hearts 2.

    Graphics:

The graphics were amazing. Nothing like I have ever seen before. Just playing the graphics were amazing, and then with the Openining Sequence and the Ending Sequence...amazing.

    Gummi Ship:

Wow...where do I start...the Gummi Ship was AMAZING! It was 10000000x better in this one in the other one. This one you got boss fights, turning around from the rear and sides from attacks. Getting two little Gummi Ships on your side. So much better.

    Battle System:

Pretty much the same thing as the 1st one but the Reaction Commands made this game much better. Made it easier but the little cutscenes in it made it really cool too.

    Worlds:

The worlds in this game were much better than in the 1st one IMO. You had the re-visited worlds like Olympus Coliseum, Atlantica, Hol- eh...Radiant Garden, Agrabah and Halloween Town, but you had new worlds that were very great too. My favorite's were Pride Land and Olympus Coliseum. Besides Radiant Garden and The World That Never Was of course.

    Cutscenes:

Okay where to start...the cutscenes were amazing. They filled you in with so much detail about the game. Maybe a little bit to much detail though. This was pretty much my only dissapointment from the game though. It's that there were so many cutscenes. You got one like every time you entered a new place. Now I loved the cutscenes and everything but maybe they could have cut down a little.

Well that was my review, hoped you enjoyed reading it. Now, I am off to start a new file on "Proud" difficulty and complete the game 100%. See ya!

    ***Minor Sploilers***

Pretty accurate review but I disagree with some things. First off, I will still probably always like KH1 better. For all the time I spent waiting for KH2 (ie the time spent making it), the game felt rushed. It played out basically like KH1 with a tweaked Battle System. Even about 1/2 of the worlds visited were worlds you had to play through in KH1. And then you had play through them again in KH2...twice.

When you really look at it, the plot of KH2 isn't that different than KH1. Just substitute Heartless for Nobodies/Org. XII. Roxas and Naminé serve almost no purpose in the game except for that 2-3 hour introduction to the game (I would have liked more of an explanation of the events of Castle Oblivion, even though I played that on the GBA). The whole concept of how a 'Nobody' is created is cool, but not much is done with it besides providing bosses to kill and that opening with Roxas. I would liked to have seen more of them. Sorry fans of the story line (I am somewhat of a fan myself...) but, "LIGHT! DARK! HEARTS! LOVE! BLAHBLAHBLAH." If I wasn't such a huge fan of the series, I'd say the whole thing was a cheesey game to make disney money...but I love Kingdom Hearts.

After reading reviews in magazines about how long KH2 was (even going so far as saying ~100 hours), I completed it (with secret ending) in normal mode in 30. I'm currently playing on Proud Mode now, and it's basically the same level of difficulty until you start fighting members of the organization. Then it gets difficult. A great improvement over Expert mode in KH1.

For me, the battle system stood out the most. You learned many more abilities while leveling and I've had tons of fun with the different drive modes and limit commands. This is probably the only part of the game for me that seemed like a definite improvement over KH1.

Once again, Square-Enix never fails to amaze with its quality graphics; although I was still mildly disappointed, as I was with KH1. The awesome CG sequences only happened at the beginning and end of the game (even though they wanted to make me lick my TV). I was hoping for a more FFX approach with awesome graphics throughout the game, but I won't harp on it as much as I already have.

The sound and music in the game was great (I'm strangely addicted to the opening song Sanctuary by Utada Hikaru). I remember the combat sounds in KH1 not differentiating much. While swinging around his keyblade Sora made annoying grunting sounds. In KH2, these sounds still exist, but it seemed like they occurred far less frequently. And the voice acting lip syncing was AMAZING. If I didn't know, I would not have guessed these characters were synced so that they looked like they were speaking Japanese.

Overall, the game satisfied me, but it just seemed like so much potential was wasted. I'd give it an:

    8/10, whereas KH1 scores a 9.5/10 on my scale.

***ALSO, if you haven't seen the opening CG to KH2 already, you must do it now. Even if you don't like the concept of KH the graphics are simply amazing and are awesome to watch for anyone who calls themself a gamer***

Edited - for spelling and such

I beat the game a couple weeks ago. I wasn't sure if you were suppose to save it at the end, but I couldn't figure out how to.

Crisis, KH2 was, by you point, just an improved KH1 yet you rated it lower. What is your logic behind this?

I agree with the Graphics. They should have had more cutscenes like the beginning in and end sequences, like you stated in FFX. I beat Seph on level 61. Now I am playing it again on Proud too, I am currently in Land of the Dragons 2nd time through. A lot harder this time around.

You say most of the worlds were one's from KH1. You didn't like this, but personally I did and if you think about it they had to put some worlds back into the game. The good ones from the 1st one. Sora told them that they would see each other again and you can't not have any worlds from the 1st one not in. Olympus was amazing this time around, so much fun to play in. And they are totally different, as in the map so it's not completely like the last game because the whole world was different.

You also say that they should have had more things about Castle Oblivion. They want it for if you want to know about that that you go and buy Chain of Memories so they get profits. Yeah, it would have made the game better, but they don't care.
