    get this ram insteed.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021

it's guaranteed to hit DDR500, and it's likely you'll be able to hit DDR 540 or 560, with th ram you had chosen you'd only be able to hit say 480-500 if you're lucky. when it comes to voerclocking your ram, clockspeed almost always wins.

as for the extra money you just saved, toss it into the graphics card, get the 7600GT, it's on par witht he 6800ultra if I am nto mistaken and is more energy efficient.

also, you might want to not bother with a 30$ soundcard, I've heard the sound in the DFI Ultra-D is very good.

Ok very good picks but here is my 2 cents

Drop both harddrives and get this
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822136012

The 6800xt was made to make fun of ATI so get this
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130283

Forget the 170 and just overclock the 165 (save alot of money)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103588

xelink read my mind for the ram
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820231021

a couple more $ and you can get the SLI-d
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813136158

That DVD burner is way overpriced
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827101002

Since youre getting a DFI board this PSU is highly recommended on the DFI-street forums
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817711002

This case is a lot more organized and better airflow for cooler parts
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811129154

    Other than that its fine.

Raptors suck. If you want to pay $155 for a 2% performance boost, be my guest. But your money can honestly be better-spent elsewhere.

    1. Drop the Raptor. Performance testing from independent reviewers has shown that the Raptors only aid in game loading times, and that's usually by less than 5%.
    2. Drop the Lian Li case. Lian Li is an excellent company, but their cases are far too overpriced. Get this case instead. It's the Antec P180, and is far superior to your chosen case.
    3. With the money you dropped from the Raptor, upgrade your video card to a 7900GT. Considering that you will be gaming a lot, a video card should be one of your first considerations. The 7900GT is one of the best values in video cards at the moment.
    4. Switch your RAM to this. If you're going to be overclocking, DDR500 RAM will be much more helpful.

Everything else looks alright though :)

to be honest you seem like one who shouldnt be OC'ing

for the PSU, id pick up an antec
    this is a good one

if you are going to be OC'ing i wouldnt use the stock cooling that comes with the CPU, i'm not all that familiar with them but i know Zalman/Antec/Cooler Master all make good coolers

I'd suggest takign a look at a couple reviews before picking one.

Zalman and Thermaltake are excellent. I have a Zalman myself. keeps my CPU cooled to 35-40C, and i control the speed with the little remote, so i can turn it down when im not doing anything..

I own that ram, that's why. It was highly recomended on the AMD forum by people getting the opterons...

the opteron 165/170 is somewhat debateable as the max OC of the 170 is typically higher due to the higher multiplier. the only board I know of capable of OCing a 165 to its absolute max would be the 200$ ASUS OMFG WTF FTW PWNING SLI board, due to it being able to hit past 300mhz on the bus, but the board is on the whole still very overpriced.

if you are satisfied with an absolute max OC of somewhere around 2.7ghz though(which should be more than adequate) then definately get the 165
