Ok, here we go......... Here is my Processer and RAM Stats And it's a Pentium 4 so I should be able to buy more RAM. And a better processer like a 3.0 GHZ+ I have DDR RAM. I would want 1 GB of RAM as you can see here I have 2 slots. The second one has nothing in it so I could not get 1 GB even if I got 512 MB. Here is my video card I would want to buy a 256 MB one. So would it make sense to upgrade my PC now? It would really be like getting a new one because I want a new processer, video card and 1 GB RAM when I can only get like 700 MB. Or should I buy a new one? But on this PC I have right now I can actually run Half Life-2 and Counter Strike:Source and all that with a lag spike every 30 seconds. The reason is because I added about 6 paging files of 3 GB and I am formatting the Source Engine for those games to lower settings so it does not have as good visuals. def upgrade the ram, no question there. getting a complete new PC is up to you though, does your CPU limit you often? if so it's time for a change. If you plan on gaming then it's definately time for a cahnge.
$80 can get you some good 512x2 sticks of RAM. better to check your motherboard specs and see if it enables DDR 400. its a bit better if it does.
Whatever you do, do not mix and match RAM. If you can try to get the same maker and type as your old kind, if not then just take it out when you go to upgrade. Mixing RAM could equal to mobo failures, and when a mobo goes down it can sometimes take other items with it.
erm, either way he should throw away that RAM. any standard computer comes with DDR 400 (200 Mhz) compared to this RAM's 133 Mhz...
at my store a 512 MB stick is $85 and what about my video card and processer? would just getting 512 more RAM solve everything?
it can, yet you wont know until you get the ram.. one suggestion, though, get rid of Norton, and get Avast...
um dude, ddr 400 is 200mhz... as for ram, a single strip of 512mb DDR400 is as low as 30$ 85$==major ripoff you might want/need a new gfx card as well. price range for a decent oen is 120-180$ for the mid-low end. FYI, the laziest way to do this is just OC the dang proc and then toss in a new card+ram.. bam instant improvement.
