Ok im going to be getting a new gfx card this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814121216 or the 7800 agp and my current power supply is a 250W and i have a compaq presario newer model 1 year old and i was woulding would this fit inside my computer / work for my computer http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817704005 so is it when i get a new power supply bolt it in plug it up and go? and do i have to get the right pin?
First of all, I'd say get this card instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...608#DetailSpecs Second of all, Idk bout that PSU, seems cheap. I'm thinking this may work for you, but lets get a 2nd opinion k? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817153023 EDIT: With the new PSU, you are gonna have to reconnect a lot of things. Not really hard but gets annoying. And jsut get a 20+4 pin, its universal, and most are like that anyway. How it works is it has 2 cords grouped, one with 20, one with 4 pins. If you need 24, they just slide together and boom, there ye go.
yeah, definally dont get that psu that you mentioned (comp kid), no name brand at a cheap price will = disaster. i probably would get the 7800 instead of the 6800 imo
thx for the fast reply and sorry im more of an nvidia fan than im am an ati and so far i might stay with that psu till someone else posts cuz about it but i realy need the price to be $25 bucks or below
performance/$ is all that matters. I have a 7800GT but don't hesitate to recomend the x800 to friends looking for performance/$ company loyalty is stupid(ok, I go with newegg on some things even though tax makes stuff liek 1-2% mroe expensive because I've had good past experiences but that's almost negligeable) when there is an obvious diference in what you get for the money. that's like AKW getting ripped off on his proc because he's an intel loyalist. trust me, on the low end ATi is champ right now, and on the extreme high end it's closer but mid end, nVidia is champ
Id suggest you downgrade your graphcis card if you are only willing to spend 25 bucks on a power supply. edit: Diablo's first psu looks good
get the 7800 then, that 6800 isnt too good.. Ya see how much better the ATI one is? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCompa...&SubCategory=48 It doesnt matter so much whether its ATI or Nvidia when it comes to that.. and dont go with that psu i'd say still. for 25 or less?.... wait, mine is only 5 more dollars... next best maybe this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817255010
chances are you cant upgrade you compaqs psu as they make them a different size. Also you sure you have an agp slot.
please dont make sarcastic remarks. I was just stating that generally compaq takes the cheap way out. Although I still dont hold much for you being able to fit in a standard psu.
ok i checked the bolt holes on the one im thinking of geting and the one on in my computer this is the one ill be buying next week http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817148008
Well... I'd say go for this if you will spend that much. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103928 Or save a few bucks and get something jsut as good (this is what I got and it still works great for me) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817104954 Antec is a good name to go by, one of the best out there. FSP group is also pretty good, just as strong as the antec, plus a bit more of wattage. The one you chose isnt really bad, but I am saying this cuz I was guided away from it also when I was building my computer by Defuzion. He knows a lot about PSU's so I trusted him, he was right, saved some cash and scuh in the process.
