If television was not censored many young children will be exposed to nudity and cuss words. Young children are easily brainwash and will do or say whatever they see on TV.
Without censorship on TV, it'd be like a box with the internet, wait you call that a computer Yeah, I don't really care, just depends on the situation, say for instance Family Guy, mocking really funny stuff, you gotta have it, remember that one episode where everything is censored and Peter and Lois have sex? Haha, and then he gets his own channel, good times
It bothers me most when censorship goes into music or music videos, besides that a certain restriction to prevent minors from learning it too quickly would be fine.
they sould censor those ugly words, but I don't think they should do it to nudity or murders and stuff... I also hate it when America censors blood and nudity in anime and games from Japan, that really sucks
Yeah, it does suck. I don't know, 'cussing' seems to be society right now, f this f that, if you know what I mean right? Here in US/CA it's all about who's more gangstar than you.
if anyone watched the superbowl they edited the halftime show because he said "----" like "---- pit", which was sad because there are more then one meaning to some words, as depending on the context it could be censored, but if you want uncensored stuff, watch Show Case.. its uncensored lol.
It's about maintaining a level of dignity. Pornographic material is seen as "undignified" because of many things. For one, we consider ourselves "above" walking around in the nude, which is what porn has. Also, they take the act of sex and totally distort it with all kinds of stuff. Excessive violence is not only undignified, but it's immoral. You shouldn't show that kind of stuff to kids. Imagine the kind of mental trauma that might occur as a result. The same applies for language, blood and gore, and anything else that merits an "R" rating in a movie.
Morality is relative, though. Why enforce what a few people think to be the moral standard on everyone? Rather, make the parents do their damn jobs and monitor what their kids watch/listen to/buy, instead of planting their kids in front of the TV and then complaining when they hear someone say a swear word that the kid's likely heard before in real life already. What I find completely ridiculous, though, is how in the US stuff can be as violent as you could imagine and be fine, but stuff with nudity or sex, which is natural and part of being a human being, causes the ---- to hit the fan. BTW, to whoever it was that said that censorship is because of the "bleeding heart liberals" - not quite. Today it's much more because of the Christian conservative right, many of whom have a very set idea of what they think is moral, and believe that the whole country needs to subscribe to their personal morality; and the parents who want to let TV raise their kids instead of doing it themselves. I've lived in the US my whole life. I went to England last year and was mildly surprised at how much more stuff was allowed on TV as compared to here.
I find censorship incredibly stupid. With it, the moment we see something horrible in real life, it affects us 1000x as much. Without censors, the world might be a lot more crude and harsh, but we'd also be used to it, if the censors were never there
the fcc wont change from us mice talking about this so they dont care. my opinion about censorship is its there as a control thing, it will raise our morals or w/e u call it, but if we dont have censorship it will make people insane and careless. but thing is shows like seseme street should be more censored, because it teaches children to do w/e the people do on any other tv shows such as power rangers etc so censorship has its good and bad sides to it...
Personally I don't agree with censorship, oh no that guy just swore the world will end! Yeah right... So what if someone swears or so what if someone is naked or there's enough blood there to fill paint the world? It's not a big deal, if you don't want to see it then how hard is it not to watch/listen to it in the first place? No one is forced to be exposed to what they think should be censored, so why do people who want uncensored stuff have to circumvent the problems of others?
If you dont want to hear it switch channel if you dont want to see it switch channel, if everything on tv offends you dont watch tv. It isnt a human right to watch tv it is a prevlige... censorship should be limitied to propaganda from politicians or lobby groups, religious propaganda, racist messeges etc
We dont need alot of te censorship that is out thease days it dulls everything and makes ppl not able to express themselves some thing should be censored but not most.
Get this is sydney they censor the simpsons on free to air tv @ 6 pm i ill admit there are certain things that sholud be cenored from the view of younger or more sentive viewers and there are a fair few of the latter out there who seem to complain about every tiny little thing . As metioned above they try to sheild young ones from all the viloence , sex durgs , but there you cant protect them from every sourse , but wouldnt it better to have them slighty de sentised from all this i mean i know i was at a young age around 12-13 and turned out just fine
