Hey, I thought this was asked a while ago but I cant seem to find it. Anyway, I was wondering how easy it is to watch, possibly record tv through your computer?

I dont have a dvi monitor yet, I was wondering if its worth it to get a dvi instead of a vga. If i have to buy a tv tuner or whatever than I probably wont bother.

Anyway, I have a evga 7900 gt gpu with dual dvi.

    Your thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

DVI is more clear than VGA

you can record off the tv with your sound card if you have the right software and a S-video out, or coaxil (sp?) out..

otherwise you would need a tv tuner...

    ACK!

Hmm Im moving out in a month so I am really on a budget :P I might have to settle for a vga monitor since dvi's are quite a bit more expensive :/

Is there a big difference between vga and dvi? Mainly just clearer picture? Really noticable?

I use VGA and LCD. I also have a WinXP MCE 2005 (XP Pro) OS. So, I use my computer for TV and entertainment all of the time. I am not sure how to go about watching/recording TV without MCE but, I know that you need the Capturing device for your cable, top box, or satelite reciever. I like ATi's "In living color" or whatever that thing is called. I am a bit busy getting dressed for school so I can't look it up. Anyways... I hope this helps. I got to go to school
