Alright, I'm planning on getting a new computer soon, a couple months at the most. I've been looking around and I've put this together, if there's any conflicts you see, feel free to let me know and yell at me. Also, if you could suggest any ways to trim off money, they're always accepted Antec P180 Case http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16811129154 Asus ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 (Crossfire, Socket 939) http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16813131584 Sapphire X1800XT 256 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16814102698 ENERMAX 500w PSU http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16817194003 Opteron 170 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16819103586 G.SKILL 2gb ram (2x1gb) http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16820231021 Seagate 250gig HD http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16822148065 Scythe Fan http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16835185001 19" Viewsonic LCD flat panel http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16824116373 Media Center '05 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16832102357 even if you don't help, thanks in advance ^_^
The PSU and LCD look ify, look into antec or ocz for high quality ones and check out the vx922 for a gaming LCD. Better HDD, 5$ more. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16822144701
jeez i'm tryin' to save money, not spend it!!! thanks for the input so far, though i think i'm gonna keep the monitor where it is, 'cause it needs to be as low-priced as possible
if you are a newb, overclocking might be a little beyond you at the moment and an Athlon X2 4200+ would be more adviseable. The Opteron 170 at stock though is still pretty respectable. Get this HSF if you do decide to OC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835106061 get this if you don't http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835118115 if you need high storage capacity get this drive insteed, better performance, RAID0 two for a bit better performance if you wish http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822136010 if you would prefer a faster HDD(helps speed up a lto fo things) try getting a WD1500 and then RAIDING it in a year or so when you want mroe space and/or speed
silvartus, i'm using this mostly for gaming, along with some video and photo editing. i'm also trying to spend as little money as possible for a nice machine, so there's also a limiting factor there
IMO, if your gonna overclock get the Big Typhoon, if you arent get a zalman cnps7700, they are silent. Also do you need a crossfire board? Look at a 7900gt, it should perform better.
