That dude's got some serious skills, but hey, won't really say he's the best, cause there are all too many people who are really professional with photoshop like the other photo manip dude.

you also have to take into play the amount of time to make something like this. The maniputlations guy really wasnt bad at all, but if you had all the stock and month to do it, im relatively sure your average photoshopper could do it.

Same with this guy, i mean, we can all look at tthat, or have a picture of something, then we make multiple over nighters and use the pen tool, etc. and add some textures (to remove the techy feel and make it more relistic) and stuff.

Personally speaking, this guy is a lot more experienced than the manipulator, IMO. it takes alot more work to do this kind of thing. Also, do you know if he had a picture of this place beforehand? If he did it wouldnt be hard to recreate in photoshop knowing where all the elements went.

But, also as i said, you have to take into account the time it took, if you gave ANYONE a long enough period of time they can do this or what the manipulator guy did. If he could do that from scratch, without a photo, in 30 minutes, id send him the deed to my moms house lmao

    yeah there is.
    there is always someone better.
and its also how you look at it.
someone who can make great templates
    can be better with photoshop.
but you can't see his skills as well as someone who makes paintings for example.

Yeah i agree ,he did spent like a month or 2 to make this
    (what is absolutely crazy)
and i dont know/not sure if he recreate'd something
but i doubt that everyone can make this..even with the same time

an experienced (5+ years of being into photoshop) could recreate that just by looking at it and doing it that way.

The difficulty level greatly increases if its not something in his memory banks or from a photo or anything. To come up with a depth perception of something like that would be extremely difficult for me had i not seen something similar beforehand.

This is what he said abotu the piece

    Damen
This is my latest and most ambitious digital painting of a Chicago scene unveiled at Photoshop World in Miami on March 22, 2006.
It is a panorama of the Damen Station on the Blue Line of the Chicago Transit Authority.
Adobe Illustrator was used for generating the majority of the basic shapes as well as all the buildings in the Chicago skyline.
The rest was created in Photoshop.
    • The image size is 40 inches by 120 inches.
    • The flattened file weighs in at 1.7 Gigabytes.
    • It took eleven months (close to 2,000 hours) to create.
    • The painting is comprised of close to fifty individual Photoshop files.
    • Taking a cumulative total of all the files, the overall image contains over 15,000 layers.
    • Over 500 alpha channels were used for various effects.
    • Over 250,000 paths make up the multitude of shapes throughout the scene.
