I find avast is good if you want websites to be safe.
But use zonealarm, that'll be great.

    Wrong section tho buddy.

Download SpywareBlaster also to stop spyware from reaching u in the first place...

    Idk about specifically stopping websites..

For a good firewall, I'd get Kerio Personal Firewall, for A/V Avast!, and for antuspyware Ad-Ware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Windows defender Beta 2 are good.

    My personal experience.

I use avast. Anytime I've found a malicious website, Avast halts the connection and asks me what to do. I abort the connection obviously and I havnt really gotten any spyware at all.

    Not that I know of.

Actually do you want a firewall or an antivirus? If it is firefox, I suggest ZoneAlarm. If it is antivirus, I suggest AVG antivirus. However, I notice, in your case, it is problem caused probably by spyware, so you will need a anti-spyware tool. "Spybot Search and Destroy"(quite a long name :)) is a good choice.

yep, me too. Avast will ask you when it finds a malicious site.

Actually, to have blocked sites, like your school, you should try E-Trust Internet Security Suite. I installed it on my mom's friend's computer, they got it as a bundle with their computer.. I tested it, tried to go to serial sites, and porn sites, but it blocked 'em. this is not free, but a good solid one.

    You don't want Spyware?

    Http://www.opera.com ^_^

I have Norton Internet Security, which have Norton Personal Firewall. I NEVER had Spyware except once where I downloaded a thing which needed it >.> But Microsoft AntiSpyware(Beta 1) removed it :P http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en

Now when I think about it.. Why didn't I let Norton remove it?

    PS. I use IE, so it's amazing I don't have Spyware >.>
