its the mouse that really makes the difference, like a traditional track ball mouse isnt as useful as a optical mouse (wireless or not, i prefer non-wireless so that i dont need to continue replacing batteries) as far as intense movements are concerned.

as far as regular mouses under $20, all you could get is like a crappy logitech wireless optical mouse...

Dementias right, its the mouse that makes the difference, you could have just a standard £1.99 mat but aslong as you have good feet on the mouse (PTFE are the best) and a high res lazer (I always use lazer) you should be fine. Oh yea don't get a wireless they go mental when the batteries are dying.

Some people have posted links, but a normal mousemat is fine as long as the mouse is good.. unlike my wireless ball mouse which sucks, gotta get a new one optical soon..

If you really want something perfect, why don't you make your own? Use something grime-free that slides easily and is slightly raised up so you don't hurt your wrist.
