Hello, Well this week I bought a brand new Antec tx1050B, a Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu and a DFI LanParty Ultra-D. Well after a shortcoming with my cheap Gigabyte K8NF-9 I replaced it with an Ultra-D and all is good and sweet now. Sorry the pics are a bit blurry, havent had much practice taking pictures, I will try and take some more later. Current Rig: AMD X2 3800+ DFI LanParty Ultra-D Sapphire x800GTO 120gb WD SATA HD Benq DW-1640 Zalman CNPS7700-AlCu Benq FP72G 17" LCD Logitech MX510 Antec tx1050B Antec Smart Power II 500W The Antec tx1050B is a tank of a case, and by tank I mean a TANK!!! It weights in at about 13kg without pc parts in it, so if you get it dont think about lanning. But dont let the weight set you off, if you have the money get this case, its massive, plenty of room for all your components and provides great airflow. The only issue I have had with the case itself is that when pulling off the side panel if you take it out on an angle you can bend the bottom lip of it (very minor), but if you pull it out straight it will be fine. Included is a 120mm smart fan which has 3 settings; low, medium, high. With low being extremely quiet, imo silent. The case itself is quite, nothing creaks so if you want a very quiet to silent case then get this, great value for money. Told you it was a tank. Bundled with this awesome case is a True Power II 500W Modular PSU, great work antec the PSU is a dream, seems stable, cant hear it as the fans only kick in when they have to and I only need to hook up the cables I require. The DFI LanParty is an awesome board. When pulling it out of the box I noticed it came with round IDE cables (these SHOULD be standard these days), some sata cables and the board. I am pleased about the round IDE cables as I forgot to buy them when ordering my other parts. The first thing I did was put on my aftermarket zalman heatsink, it was easy the backplate and heatsink bracket came off easy, unlike the gigabyte which I was unable to remove. After that chucking all the parts in was easy, the only gripe I have is that the northbridge cooler is located directly at the end of the pci-e slot so my x800gto is actually sitting over the top of the fan. When I first booted up the pc I went straight into the bios, to check my temps, but in doing so I saw an enormous amount of features. OMG if you are an overclocker you will be daunted by the amount of settings you are able to tweak, but on the otherhand it will allow you to have fun. I am yet to have a go at ocing but will due time. Even if you are a novice when it comes to building a pc a DFI Ultra-D you will be fine as you dont have to go near the advanced features to make sure its all good. Another thing that is annoying with the DFI is that it takes a little while to boot through the bios, but whats an extra 2-3 seconds going to do huh? But in windows it is faster. Finally the Zalman CNPS7700B, great performer, it is a heatsink made of Aluminium and a little bit of copoer with an attached 120mm fan. Its not designed for cooling as much as it is for silence. If you want a silent hsf nothing comes close to this although you wont see the performance of a Big Typhoon it does provide some extra cooling. The great feature I see about this is the fan only kicks in when you want it to, you can set it to kick in at 30C or even 50C if you want, mine is set to 30C however it has yet to see those temps, even at medium load!! Even if the fan does kick in it comes with its own fan controller so you can turn it up to 1800rpm or down as low as silent at 700rpm. As you can see the zalman is massive. Its a 120mm fan. Mmmm cool. Used to idle at 26C, thats a 7C drop with this new case and HS/F. Overall these parts have been an excellent inclusion into my system, allowing it to stay cool and quiet allowing my computer to stay on nightly (hope to) in my room about 40cm from my head. I highly recommend these parts to anyone. DeFuZioN
What would everyone recommend as the quietest hard drive on the market, cant leave my pc on because its SOOOO loud. Look at this for some temps!!!
