Hi, Well heres my story. I bought a GigaByte GA-K8NF-9 Last October in my pc build for my x2 3800+ rig. First complaint, I pulled it out of the box and put it in, the board has one of the worst sound cards I have seen, its really staticy. Owell I can get buy that. Second complaint their BIOS is a load of BS. If you have a dual core AMD you have to use bios F6 or above. But what is failed to mention is from bios F2 and above there is a htt issue. If you try and push your htt above 213 it will not boot. So many people found this out, after I bought my board. I cant even complain about it because Gigabyte will then claim I have voided my warranty. The third complaint, and this just annoys me so much. I bought a Zalman CNPS7700-AlCu HS/F, opened up my pc yesterday, gutted it pulling out all my parts, was then left with my heatsink on my cpu, got that off easy. Now I clean the cpu and go to stick the Zalman backplate on my motherboard, but low and behold it wont go. Gigabyte have rigged on their heatsink bracket with rubber gromet type things. I cant get them out, and if I do get them out there wont be any screw thread lines. So in fact I wont be able to use my $65 hs/f on this pos motherboard. So today, I am going for a nice bus ride to a computer fair to pick up a DFI Ultra-D for $200. Thankyou for providing a budget board gigabyte but alas if you want to do anything besides office and not adding anything on then DONT BUY A GIGABYTE board for an AMD chip. Not to mention they come with crap all in the way of cables. 1 sata cable, wtf is with that.
Thanks for the imput/warning. Yeah, ASUS all the way. But, if you venture out of your way don't bother with GigByte Mobos.
I hear you... loud and clear, Defuzion.. never really like GBite anyway.. they looked like cheap sh*t from the beginning...
so now you know, just in the nick of time.. I personally would never get a Shuttle one, they threw me in circles... I called them, they said I had to call my vendor, TD, so I call TD, said i had to contact Shuttle. went like that until the warranty ran out... grr.. I have nothing against Shuttle, just I never bought from TD again, or at least never bought motherboards from them again... Newegg prevails all...
Gigabyte is okay if you can get their good models. Their budget boards plain stink. Also here is a list of GOOD budget board makers. Asrock Asus Shuttle (their SFF systems kick ass)
My new DFI Ultra-D pwns hard. I have some picks and I will post a new thread with info in it soon. I'll give you a full review!!
Computer Fair, eh? Is it held in Pomona? Where are you from? Because I go to the Computer Fair in Pomona, Cali.
