Any suggestions on changes. I don't really need to go higher in money, my budget is around $2000. Pretty much starting from scratch as you can see. So where can I improve, and where have I gone overboard and maybe can get a cheaper component. Someone told me to get the 319.00 video card instead of the 369.00 and overclock it, good idea? Oh, last thing, I will be overclocking.
lol ok lets start with the cpu... opterons a server cpu not for gaming, it is still good for gaming but not as good as others for the money, so throw that away and get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103547 next: instead of getting two raptors cause their not worth it at all.... get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822144393 get this mobo, best one with sli X16 enabled: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813127232 get this psu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817103931 ok now that we saved u a bunch of money, use the money u saved on another 7900GT and then u have urself a machine EDIT: oh btw get this sound card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16829102176 since u dont want to spend 100 bucks on one lol
If you really need to save cash.. Floppy: this floppy drive or ditch it, if its really needed.. Drive: Pay 10 more bucks, get a dvdrw drive, plays cd's and dvd's and you can burn em. Here. CPU: CPU seems good, if you plan to OC. Otherwizw i'd personally go with what he posted above. PSU: You may be able to save some cash on this psu, but ask someone else who knows, like defusion or xelink should know... EDIT: there. he said it above. Vid card: Most juiced up one. But only if you got 30 more bucks to waste.. either way neither are in stock.. Monitor: 16ms? my 8ms wasnt even too good for gaming. try lower. 4ms gtg better for gaming, choose whether to get 17 or 19 inch: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCompa...&SubCategory=20 Mouse: Great for gaming, either this one or the other will be good, this one is jsut a tad better for 14 bucks more. g5 Ditch the other cd/rw/dvd burner. Soundcard: This one here DONE Enjoy your system.
8ms is good for gaming in a monitor, but dont get 16ms. That cpu is awesome for gaming, better than a 4200+, but you can save money by dropping it down to a 165. Especially if you plan to overclock as there is no difference in ocing potential between the 165 an 170, they will reach the same. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819103588 Do you really need overclocking ram? why not get value ram and use dividers? Do not get that mushkin if your not overclocking. Dont bother about RAM or Northbridge cooling, just an excuse to waste money. PSU drop it down to a 500W or 550W Antec PSU and save some money there. If you dont like the antec I would suggest this - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817163111 Hope that helps. Also why not get a DVD-RW?
stpl: he's fine with INT audio most likely, only sound cardsworth upgrading from stock cost 2-300$ the opterons are EXACTLY the same on the 939 socket as the Athlon X2s, they just have better quality silicon. FYI STPL, the athlon FXs are rippoffs of the server s940 opterons for the most part, don't BS me and tell me that Athlon FX57 blows for gaming, same applies for the FX 60 as for ram, I cannot say how good this stuff is for the money http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?...N82E16820231021 EDIT: price on newegg just went up 40$ today, nevermind that
