    I have also a cabl;y running from my pc to laptop, when you have connected your cable. Right click on your desktop and then Settings and then click on your Video Card.
    Depending on what kind of video card you must change some things so you can use your TV as a display.

    some gfx cards support tv connection via hd or s-vidio...
    i have a GeForce NX 6600 and i have both so...
