How old are ur fans... can you just buy new ones? they arent much... any clue if its cpu fan or case or what? and yea, I did the whole wire-in-the-fan thing before..xD
Lol i had the same problem my CPU fan wouldnt run and it fried so ya you got to stop it or your comp might frie
some cd/dvd roms are known to be quite loud when they vibrate like hell.. had one like that, annoyed the hell outa me...
That is not too smart. It is better to leave your computer running. The temperature drops from around 30*C to room temperature or cooler due to the metalic properties in the computer components. This makes it really hard on the computer doing many hard boots. It's reccomended to do a soft boot as much as possible and to try to leave it going. If you don't know what you are talking about please don't try to help. It's not reccomended to help without knowing what you are doing yourself. If the fan somehow gets ff center it is just like a car tire, it will vibrate. If you have a computer fan that got warped somehow or something then it will make this really loud screaching or grinding noise. It isn't too big of a deal unless it is slowing down the fan enough to make it stop cooling properly. It is also kind of a noise pollution problem, seeing as how the noise can become quite annoying. Either way, I would check everything, remove dust every month from stuff in your PC or server. This makes everything run smoother. Also, I suggest looking at your fans... maybe turn one or two by hand and seeing if it vibrates. If all else fails you could just replace them all. Fans are not too bad expensive. You can rule out all non-moving objects as well because I doubt anything not moving would sound like it is going to explode without being on fire. Thus leaving your: HDD, Fans, CD/DVD Drives, Floppy, Etc. to be causing the noise. I hope this helps and makes your life a bit quieter.
incase the whole idea of 'a wire in the way' theory is still about, unless he is kicking his case, a wire shouldnt suddenly move in the way of the fan after a couple hours and then move back outa the way when he retarts.
then there's the problem where your parents don't let you keep it on 24/7/365... I would love to leave my computer on 24/7, but my parents are too paranoid, saving every single penny... I can't wait to move out..
Also, I missed the fact that as metal heats up it expands. The fan sits on a bearing and metal rod. This may be causing it to get off center as time goes and it heats up the stuff in your computer. Now, I am not sure as you still (Unless I missed it) havn't explained 'EXACTLY' what this sound is like vividly. Hope I helped. Merged Post: All computers now-a-days have "energy saving" technology. Did you not explain what I just said to them and the fact you can have it 'barely' (Energy saving mode) running and the monitor(s) turned completely off.
i knew that, but my parents, especially my mom wouldn't take that crap. she would say that it's still wasting money on the electricity bill.... yet, it probably costs more to have all the rest of our always-on stuff run... (refridgerator, freezer, tv, etc.) I'm sure my last computer died because of all the restarts and starting it... oh well, I'll be leaving it on at my place...
Well I HAD the same problem so its definetly a fan problem i suggest replacing all your fans that you can..(they are VERY cheap) or else your computer will birn and die i ahd the exact same problem so take it from me BUY NEW FANS
wtf? your computer wont burn and die. when your processor gets to a certain temp, it shuts down automaticly... had it happen many times after re-wiring my computer and leaving a wire in the way of my fan. and the extra fans your case might have are not required. my old dell running 2 cd-dvd drives and 2 hard drives never overheated and all i had was the single CPU fan.
Well, none the less... we are running hard core machines..a. atleast I am... if their are ANY cords, fans, ----, dust, ----, piss, cigs, gravy, ANYTHING in my case causing heat and making my PC get hot enough to have to shut down to were I have to go solve a problem... It isn't good... and I will be pissed. So none the less... you are right, it will shut down before it blows (it will try anyways because sometimes it fails). The temp sensor could be off a bit... all kinds of things come to play.. but none the less... still fix it! Better safe than sorry... better fixed sooner than later.
my point exactly...yours has a psu fan problem sometimes its a fatal problem sometimes its not..i bought my new psu fan for 15 bucks it was a good investment
