ok, so i upgraded my old 5500 to a new 6600. works fine, great actually.

the problem is, when i quit an online game, instead of going back to windows, it restarts...

I only ever saw it happen on GunBound, but it may do it to others, need to check.

It's not a virus, i checked this morning.

    doesn't seem like spyware character...

    what's doing this?

You might not like what i have to say but it is recommended to reformat after buying a new video card (big gap between 5500 and 6600) so your computer can accommodate for the update.

On that note, did you update your video card drivers?

lol u know what it is, when u exit a game after a full load on ur cpu/ video card and then its back to normal its a huge difference and its too much to slow down that fast so it restarts. used to happen to me cause my video card wasnt good enough lol. i hate to say this man but its either ur video card or ur cpu.... try installing more fans, or liquid cooling, that will do the trick cause one or the other is overheating and itsnt powerful enough. its driving a car at 60 mph and then u hit a tree and tottaly stop, u dont slow down once uve hit the tree, u just crash.... thats whats happeneing to ur comp. i hope that made sense

EDIT: get on msn mate ill explain it better for you lol

As a low priority thing, get something to measure your system/cpu temp. and gfx card if possible....

now I know, stpl helped me out...

my cpu is too slow... it barely passes on srtest... everything else passes through the house...

so i need a new socket A cpu, faster than 3000, or a brand new board and cpu. if you know any good combos with mobo/cpu, thats be great, dont want to spend a whole lot of money...

    should $100-200 do it?

  9. update drivers.
