You see I am no computer expert, I can program a little in C++, use photoshop, and use 3d programs to an extent. Yet I know little of the computer itself, therefore I dont know much about RAM, I know that it is a comps main memory source, and not much else.
My problem is: I was messing around in photoshop and adding text. Well I would get one word done and it would stop half way through the second, and would bid me this comment in image form:

So I ask, what the hell do I do now?

    Merged Post:

I restarted PS and it seems to be fine now.

    In Photoshop:

Edit -> Preferences -> Memory & Image Cache

Lower the "Maximum used by Photoshop" percentage.

But you should also probably consider buying more RAM.

Yeah. It does this time to time. Just do what Imperial said to do if you got little RAM/vRAM. If you restart it it usually works though. Though, it is a pain in the ass to always have to say your work PSD so you can finish your text. But hey, just my two pennies.

as you mentioned you dont know much about RAM. if you were wondering why it worked after you restarted, its becuase whenever you restart, it empties your RAM. just thought i'd tell, wasnt sure if you knew.

Lol. Unless you were running ALOT of programs at once, then there should really be no reason to get a RAM error from using the text tool.

I have 256mb of RAM and I have NEVER seen that before. <<

    Glad its working fine now.

matters how long you leave your computer on also... if you leave on for like a week straight, its bound to happen (if your using it in that week)
