why would he mean ad-aware? thats but lavasoft, not norman.

hmm, norman, havent heard of them. i looked at their site, they look respectable, just cant give you much of a gauge on how good since i dont have their product.

Avast is best. Norman? never heard of it. If you don't get viruses, it must be decent, no?

Norton is great but its a system hog..I recommend McAfee...its just as great as Norton..and it takes up less system resources....but if you have a powerful computer then I would go with Norton..it has better real-time protection and a more thorough scan... :)

*Ding* Your virus database has been updated

Avast, the best of the free and of the paid worlds...

    Also, I use Nod32, yes, I use 2 AVs.

I once used Norton, but soon found out the crap of it. McAfee is ok, but unless you have DSL or above, youre in for a long download..

    ad-aware isn't an anti-virus.
I've never tried Norman, but I'd recommend AVG Anti-Virus from Grisoft.com

Well, can't say I use Norman much, but we have it at school pc's and a friend of mine used to have it.
He changed to AVG though ;)

Avast! and AVG seem to be the best around. (I'm using both on different pc's)

I can highly reccomend Trend Micros PC-Cillin, has a few extra features than most anti virus / firewall combos. Like Wi-Fi intrusion detection (great if you have a wireless network) built in anti-spyware controls, the ability to update other pcs on your network with pc-cillin remotely, and lots of other little features. It's fairly heavy on ram usage but uses very little processer when actually scanning and it doesnt seem to slow my system much at all. It also upfates very reguarely (i reccon it actually downloads updates about twice a day on average and it checks for them very 3 hours) Its fairly easy to get hold of at www.trendmicro.com and i highly reccomend it to anyone. I switched to this from norton and havn't looked back since.

I use MacAfee, its pretty good, but make sure to turn off the notifications cause it updates alot and it gets annoying lol.

I also use ad-aware, and spybot search and destroy :P
