I personally think they should make a GR V2 with a different host because this one keeps on shutting down like every day. It get's me aggravated and I'm sure other people too. Anyone think they should make a V2?

GR V2 Has actually already been installed. It's when it was upgraded from 1.3 to 2.0.4.

They are currently working on a new skin, but it's low priority.

GAmerenders is a highly trafficed site, you have to expect it to be slow every once and a while.

To say that this forum goes down every day is a HUGE over statement. This forum is not often down at all. For such a high traffic site, I would say their server that they are paying for, handles the load extremely well.

The only thing that is causing the problem is the server its hosted on, besides that, everything is fine.

The alexa page only takes into consideration the first page of the site, and I have just optimised the images on the splash page to make their file size 2x smaller so that figure will go down.

Regarding the downtime of the server. During January and February there was 100% uptime - the server remained contstantly online during those months and never was switched off. There has been a noticable amount of downtime in March on some occasions however, on the 5th of March and the 22nd of March. These were caused by events that don't often happen, one of them was a hard disk failure which doesn't often happen as you can imagine while the other involved the server not booting up properly (now fixed). There is no way that we can "switch hosts" becuase we have our own server, meaning that we are essentially our own host.

OMG. You have your OWN server?

Is it just like a huge computer?

It's most probably a dedicated server located in a datacenter. Or Llamaman could just be running it from his bedroom.
