    Hello,
Well currently I have a computer which I built in October/November of last year. It has the following specs -

    AMD X2 3800+
    Gigabyte K8NF-9
    1gb OCZ Value RAM
    x800GTO
    120Gb WD SATA
    Benq DW-1640
    Thermaltake TR2 430W PSU

Now in the future I intend to upgrade most of that over this coming year. But I will be starting with the case and a new HS/F. Then onto the psu and gfx card when DX10 is released.

Now for my case I have been looking at Antec and pretty much only them as I want a solid case which produces very little sound (fans, strong joints, etc). Now I have 3 cases in mine however I am unable to decide they are -

    - Antec P160W: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811129173

    - Antec Sonata II: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811129155

    - Antec TX1050B: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811129158

Now I am leaning more towards the P160W however I am not sure whether or not to get one of the other two as they come with decent psus. I rather like the TX1050B but it weighs in at 25 lbs, but it does come with a 500W Smart Power II which means I wouldnt have to upgrade that and save some money now. What do you think? In Australia they can all be found between the $160-$200 mark any of those 3 are fine, just need some advice.

My other upgrade will be HS/F. Think of getting the Zalman CNPS7000-ALCU -
Apparently its silent and I am doing no overclocking with the poor excuse of a bios on my mobo. Any other recommendations?

I've always found that it is better to purchase the case seperate from the PSU...you normally get substandard quality if you buy a bundle...but then again, I've never purchased a case or a bundle from Antec... Sorry if that didn't help any.

I really suggest getting the p160 since i have experience with it and its nice and big. Look into the opteron 165 since you said you will be buying a new heatsink and that can be an upgrade in itself and you can overclock it to 2.5/2.6. I also suggest you get a 7600gt from evga since you will quality for the 90-day step-up. The 90-day step-up is exclusively from eVGA and allows you to trade in your recently perchased card (with 90 days from a qualified dealer, in your case newegg) for a brand new one, ie. a DirectX10 card.
Other than that it will be an amazing system.

in price. i don't know how good the psu is, but if you can get a case and psu cheaper seperately, you can save up on your gfx card ;)

That and generic PSU's arent very stable and probably wont last long.

The psu in the last case I said is a Smart Power II 500W. One of the best psus around. In australia the prices of all 3 are very similar. the TX1050B (third one) is $193.00 where the p160 is $170.

I'd say get the TX1050B. Coming with the psu is nice.
of course dont base anything off what I said, I'm not too good with judging cases.

The TX1050B, that's a good deal for a case and good PSU, the Smartpower II 550s are like $100 by themselves.

And while you guys would normally be correct with the "don't trust the case PSU" thing, Antec's main products are power supplies. Like DeFuZioN said, the Smartpower series are some of the best out there.

    Ok some recent developments.

Just got a MX510 gaming mouse. It is awesome.

I am going to bid on an ebay auction for a used Antec Sonata II and a Viewsonic LCD Monitor. I am hoping to pick this up for $200. Usually case sells for $180 and monitor $350. But its used and there arent many people living in the area that use ebay. YAY so they cannot pickup like it says. So heres hoping -

So if I win I will be running dual monitiors, but I will have to get a vga to dvi as I have 2 vga screens, but on a gfx card which has 1 dvi and 1 vga. Shame about the 35ms response time lol. Buts its cheap!

  14. think ya shoulda spent about $10 for mx518.. or better yet just get a g5.

wow newegg doesn even sell 510s anymore..
