I read this review on newegg about the AMD FX55, and I basically want the same setup but I am a little wary on how this guy is running an agp video card with that motherboard. quote-- This is the best you can get. Window xp load in 5 min-no joke. hes my system: 4X 1gb sticks of Kingston DDR550 for 4 gigs of ram 4x 200gb Western Digital hard drives 10,000rmp for 800 gigs 3Dlabs WildCat Realizm 200 Video Card, 512MB DDR3 AMD Athon 64 FX-55 socket 939 with head sink 2.6 GHZ ASUS "A8N-SLI Deluxe" nForce4 SLI Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 939 CPU ASPIRE X-Navigator Silver Aluminum ATX Mid-Tower Case with side window and 500W Power Supply. What do you all think?
Generally an uber gaming rig. I'd rather have a couple of standard nVidia cards (ie. 6600) in SLI, but that's because I've got little use for the advanced stuff on the wildcat, and I'd rather stay with the mainstream chipsets. Maybe I'm insane, maybe it's just me, but I like to stick to what I know. Depends on what you're using it for, I guess. Lets face it, this machine is overkill for just about anything you could want to do, but if you really had the budget, and you want the bragging rights, by all means go for it. And yeah, I think that Asus board is PCI Express only if I remember rightly.
Sorry, looks like you posted whilst I was editing. I thought that board was PCI express only. I don't know enough about the wildcat to know whether there's a PCI express version of it yet. Considering it's a pro grade card for the workstation market, I'd be surprised if there wasn't one yet - are you sure his card was listed as AGP?
Still wont help you wiggles with me owning u in AA (jokes) You getting that system? cause that is MIGHTY fine
Well that is an SLI motherboard which means its PCI-E, so that AGP card wudnt go in it anyways. Also that GFX card really isnt a gaming card, its more of a video editing card. They're also right about the RAM, i got 2gb in my computer, and tbh, even that much RAM kicks the hell outta nything i throw at it, 4gb just sounds cool, and has no real benefit.
You probably wouldnt be able to technically use more than 2GB unless you just opened up a bunch of stuff.. 1GB is plenty for most ppl.
