    Now on with the G U I D E
    ---

This FAQ is to aid people who for some reason either do not know about anime or are intimidated by it.

First of all Anime is NOT cartoons. Yes it is animation, yes some anime is obscenely cute, but anime as a rule is not for children. Anime also covers such mature and gratuitous topics as violence, drama, politics and sex.

Anime nowadays isn’t the sole domain of the Japanese either. The Koreans, Germans, French, and the Americans have all tried to emulate the Japanese and have pulled it off with varying degrees of success.

Most people are put off by anime because of two main reasons: The sheer number of titles out there and the content of said titles. If a 10 year old is shown a violent blood bath such as Guyver, he will most probably shun anime for the rest of his life. Like wise an18 year old does not want to watch Hello Kitty as well. It’s all about identifying what you like and moving on from there. In fact in Japan it’s not a big deal to be an anime fan. Every ones likes anime. They have been exposed to so much of the stuff that they have become very selective about what they watch. They have become fans of specific genres.

Which is a pretty good idea for anime n00bs as well. I have tried to divide some good animes into some broad categories so that people can identify what they like and hopefully once they have been hooked they can diversify. Anime is a strange beast and titles don’t always sit comfortably in one genre, but I hope this FAQ helps you.

    So here goes

If you like MECHS /SCI FI/ ACTION, then watch

    Appleseed
    Full Metal Panic
Neon Genesis Evangelion (Death and rebirth of Evangelion / End of Evangelion)
Macross a.k.a Robotech (all three sagas)
    Macross 7
    Macross Plus
    Macross II
Macross : Do you remember love?
Macross Zero (The prequel to Macross)
    Escaflowne
    RaXephon
Zone of the Enders( IDOLO and DOLORES)

If you like ACTION / SCI FI / NOIR, then watch

    Akira
    Armitage III: Polymatrix
    Blus Submarine no 6
    Bubble Gum Crisis
    Witch Hunter Robin
    Serial Experiment Lain
    Wonderful days
    Ghost in the Shell
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
    TriGun
    Cowboy Bebop The Movie
    Cowboy Bebop
    Lupin III
    Outlaw Star

If you like HORROR (GORE) / SCI FI / ACTION then watch:

    3 X 3 Eyes
    Blood The Last Vampire
    Devil Hunter Yohkho
    Hell Sing
    Guyver

If you like CUTE / COMEDY

    Sailor Moon (sic)
All Purpose Cultural Cat Nuku Nuku
    Card Captor Sakura
    Exel Saga
    Hand Made May
    Love Hina
    Kiki’s Delivery Service

If you like SPORTS then watch:

    Slam Dunk

    Initial D Second Stage

    Ruroni Kenshin a.k.a Samurai X
    Flame of Recca
    Hunter X Hunter
    Hunter X OAV
    Naruto
    Ninja Scroll
    Shadow Skill

If you like FANTASY / DRAMA / ADVENTURE then watch:

    Castle In the Sky
    Final Fantasy Unlimited
    Kiddy Grade
    Princess Monoke
    Spirited Away
    Scrapped Princess
    Stellvia of the Universe
    Vampire Hunter D
    Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
    Grave of the Fireflies

    MANGA:

Manga can be loosely described as Japanese Comic Books. Most anime titles begin life as manga. So if you are really into a specific series theres a good chance that there is some manga that you can download as well.

    Where to get them:

Most of the really famous tiles can be had on DVD. You have to look hard to find them but its not impossible. Turning to the internet, try Mirc .( PM me for a few channels to get you started), there are also the P2P’s but as per forum rules I’m not going to comment on them. Anime Torrents are also easy to find, you can try Supernova.org or downloadanime.org etc.

    File Formats and Quality:
    English or Japanese?

It is a very difficult job to successfully dub an anime in English. Most of the times the English voice actors are stiff and wooden in their delivery. True anime fans always go for the real deal, that is Japanese Vocals with English Subtitles. Try it, you wont be able to watch anything in English after that.

I hope this helps people out there who are interested in Anime but who just needed a push in the right direction. If you have anymore questions ask Echelon, me or m4st3r pr3d. They are fellow anime lovers and know a lot of useful stuff.

    Hope this Helps

Try giving Movie Examples to compare the animes to...

    i.e.
Ghost in the Shell -> Matrix
    Hellsing -> Blade

    Another good Anime is:
    Full Metal Alchemist

You make list of good manga too?

    i.e.
    Eden
    Alita
